    Best anteanna splitter

If you're only 25 miles from the towers and you have a CM7777 on the already powerful CM4228 don't worry about losing 3dB on a passive splitter. Don't waste your money on a distribution signal. If you're having problems with reception now then you'd only be amplifying those problems with a...

    OTA Antenna setup question

All 8 are broken? That seems unlikely. Are they definately diplexers and not splitters? There should be 2 inputs (1 satellite & 1 antenna) and 1 combined output. After the splitter the jumpers from the splitter should be connected to the antenna port on the diplexer, the jumper from your...

    OTA Antenna setup question

DHA is Digital Home Advantage. It costs $5 a month, but if you have a trouble call (which you do) it only costs $30 instead of $100 and all costs are covered by the plan. The important part to stress is that you lose half your channels. Point out the old RG59 cable and a smart tech will realise...

    OTA Antenna setup question

If you satellite LNB/switch is Dish Pro or higher than you're going to run into problems sooner or later. The Dish Pro equipment has a higher current draw and frequency range than RG59 can handle. Get yourself a DHA trouble call for $30 and tell the technician you periodically lose half your...

    OTA Antenna setup question

Start with replacing the amp and NEVER buy anything from Rat Shack ever again. Next replace the RG59 with RG6. If you're still having problems after that you may have to by pass the diplexers. Remember, you lose signal with every device. So you're not only losing signal from the diplexer but the...

    OTA Antenna setup question

What type of inline amp are you using? The CM7777 is the preferred preamp by most people. Take the plunge and get new RG6 cable and eliminate all those diplexers too. You should have: The antenna feeding the preamp (shortest jumper possible) feeding the preamps power supply (inside the...

    Multiwitch with pre amp

Every connector or splitter costs you some signal. As long as you're not in the deep fringe you should be ok.

    Multiwitch with pre amp

You'll have to connect a complete series: roof antenna to pre-amp to power supply to the multi switch. The multi switch most likely has it's own power supply, but that's seperate from the pre-amps power supply.

    WOW 129.0 miles

It's not a super antenna, it's atmospheric conditions which allows this. I'm on Long Island, NY and I once pulled in a Baltimore CBS station!

Need help with Off air connection to Dish500

You'd have to cut the sat line and put an F-connector on the fresh cuts. How did the clip on antenna signal get into the house?

Need help with Off air connection to Dish500

You probably need a roof top antenna. Go to antennaweb.org to see what channels you can realistically receive. After you choose an antenna you'll need to diplex it into the sat line at the dish and un-diplex it at the receiver. A diplexer looks like a splitter but it basically combines the...

    OTA antenna recomendations needed

I'd try the Zenith Silver Sensor indoor antenna. It's cheap, portable and should pick up the 20 mile stations IF they broadcast high power.

Pieces & parts of OTA - which components to buy?

Your best bet is to go online and look for the items you need. Lowes/Home Depot type stores rarely have the better brands.

Pieces & parts of OTA - which components to buy?

Whether the splitter is $2 or $200 you'll still lose 3 dB so get the $2 splitter, it makes no difference. What does make a difference is where you split. After the preamp is the only solution. Using the CM7777 is the best thing you can do.

    OTA Antenna NY

You'll get all local DT stations with a medium to large antenna (and possibly) a pre-amp. And OTA is superior to D*.

You may also consider a rotor as well. Most good UHF antennas are highly directional.

    Temecula OTA reception Report

I thought the Dish receivers measure signal stength on a scale of 125? Rain usually helps reception. The cloud cover reflects the signal (I think). You should probably install a rotor. It sounds like your towers are far enough apart that directionality will be rather important to you.
