WNVC 56 and 57 In VA Off The Air

According to the info at the FCC they will both use the existing antennas. The transmitters are only mentioned as, as needed to obtain required E.R.P.

    DTV signal boost after Feb?

Looking at the FCC web site they are showing the same coverage maps for ch 7 &9 after the switch. Guess the FCC is hoping the better digital tuners are going to make up for the power loss. There were no applications from CH9 (WUSA) Asking for a power increase. Looks like it's going to be a wait...

    DTV signal boost after Feb?

You can go to tvfool TV Fool - TV Signal Locater and enter your address and you can find out before and post transition transmit power and signal levels at your address. Sure there may be more changes coming, but you could also go to the FCC TV Query TV Query - TV Technical Information - Video...

    Are These Any Good???

I did buy one of them to see how bad it was and it is as delivered. Mine came from a different vendor and luckily only cost 29.95 with free 3 day shipping. Guess the guy was trying to get rid of them. So anyway it's a bit of a pia to assemble. In looking at it, the dual folded dipole drivers are...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

If you can't or won't position the 4221 to get a better ch 12 sig than try this, http://www.solidsignal.com/prod_display.asp?PROD=Y5-7-13 and combine it with the 4221. Overall you'll have smaller antenna and more upper vhf gain than with a 3016

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Your in a fairly strong signal area, if you had to use a preamp try this, http://www.warrenelectronics.com/antennas/hdp269.htm. You could also try moving the antenna up or even down a little to see if that helps on ch 12.

    WDCW-DT DC area

How's WDCW analog sig? They run over 4Mw erp on ch 50 with their DT on 51. Rather close. Don't think they'll up the DT power untill the analog shutdown.

Newbie Suggestion for OTA indoor Antenna

All your DTV stations are uhf. The Silver Sensor should work fine as an indoor antenna. Did you check to make sure they are all staying uhf after 2009? http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DA-06-1082A2.pdf

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

The SS he's now using seems to only pickup his channel 12 in one direction. He's only interested in DTV. Although multipath can be a problem with DTV it's not as bad as with analog. I have a small wide directional and the multipath issue is alot less with D than A tv. He's in a "yellow" area for...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

If you have the 4221 give it a try, you might be surprised. You say you only need to get vhf ch 12 at 17 miles distance, clear shot. The 3016 is overkill if this is all you want. Unless there are other lower channel vhf analog stations you may want than go with the 3016.

A 2 story house with a good shoot at the towers, the 4221 might even work in your attic.

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Here's some more reading for you. http://www.hdtvprimer.com/ANTENNAS/siting.html I would try the 4221. It's inexpensive has good gain and wide beam width. When using the indoor antenna what's the relationship to the outside obstructions you describe. You could try taking the silver sensor...

    D* and db4 antenna

Is the only thing you've change just the antenna? Which winegard did you have? Will all the splitters pass dc from the sat rx to the 3lnb? Are all TV stations you had UHF?

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

If your channel 12 is about 18 miles from you the 4221 should work. It has about -5 db gain at that channel but so does the 4228. The gain of the 4228 picks up below ch 12. Make sure you have a clear shot at their tower, no trees, tall buildings. The beamwidth of the 4221 is somewhat wide so...

    WDCW-DT DC area

WDCW-DT is only running 125kw erp. Is most likely part of the problem if your shaded somewhat from their tower. Here's their service area map; http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=DT623485.html They make it out to about 30 miles.

    Apartment Antenna Help!

Both have about the same gain on the stations you want to get, the CM is almost half the cost. How well do you get along with the upstairs neighbors? If you could mount the antenna on the 3rd floor, maybe get it just above the roof and share the signal?? Height and an open shot at the towers is...

    I put a DB4 & DB2 together...DB6 :)

More than likely your picking up a reflection, a real good one. I see from the pictures there are no leaves on the trees. Things may change as the foliage appears. Looks like you have room for a rotor on that pole. You might end up having to get another db2 and making a db8 and pointing it...

    Help... Confused about antennas

If Fitz is only 8 miles from the towers and on a hill it still might work with the 4228. If not he could use a low gain vhf high yagi at the locals, without preamp and combine with the uhf, perhaps in the house to keep power to a uhf preamp if needed.

    Need help choosing indoor antenna...

Winegard and CM both used to make single channels, but I don't think so any more. There's this outfit in Canada that does. http://www.wade-antenna.com/Wade/cutchannel.pdf. has about 4db more gain at ch 4 than what you have now. They have dist/dealers in USA & Ga. They also make a uhf parabolic...
