    Delayed response in menu

Even if the units do this 'auto-reboot', it doesn't seem like it does. My system will still get laggy at times, and the only way to clear it is with a reboot. Heck, last night the unit froze just after two shows started recording and we were watching another channel. Just wouldn't respond to...

    Dropping Directv for Xfinity X1

Hmm, I know the DVR unit supports 1080p, but my bedroom unit is a 720p. I haven't tried the secondary unit doing 1080p. It's possible that those units don't really support it yet.

    Dropping Directv for Xfinity X1

A couple of draw backs versus Dish. 1) No pausing of live TV with the additional unit. Plays DVR files just fine until the last five minute. No skipping ahead from that point on. 2) X1 DVR has a much smaller HD inside. We used to be able to store whole seasons of five+ shows with the Hopper...

Comcast High Speed Interet and Cable

Try downloading a digital copy from iTunes sometime. I've seen my speeds vary between 30 to 12Mbps. The more I download the slower it goes too. Meanwhile, the speed tests will show that I get a full 50-60Mbps connection. The same test on my parents Charter connection ran at near full bandwidth...

    Xfinity's X1

Not an option unless it's another DVR box. You can only pause on recorded shows, on demand, but no live TV.

Yep, I experience this too. I some times forget to do the once a week reboot. Frustrating that they have moved the restart option. I thought they deleted it, but I found Device Settings > Power Preferences. I used to just unplug the power cable at one point because the front power button doesn't...

Yes, lots of times. It's been getting better. I highly suggest rebooting the DVR box at least once a week.

Comcast High Speed Interet and Cable

Since they charge $10/month for rental, I highly suggest that you go the ownership method and save the money. They will take care of it for you on the install. If you get a SB6121, you'll be limited to 105Mbps. The 6141 can go up to 150Mbps (maybe faster too). My issue with Comcast's internet...

    Comcast pixelation on HD only

My initial guess would be a weak signal. I'm aware that some boxes will tell you the signal level received by the box. Now, when they installed my setup, they installed an amplifier. The guy told me it was a known issue and that without it, I would have problems. When I have seen the pixelation...

    Uverse Internet

I just saw this. Yes, you can route your internet from the Uverse modem to the Netgear. There is a setting within the Uverse modem. You can also turn the 11n off if you like, but you won't be able to view all the channels through a computer or tablet unless you use the Uverse wifi. Your private...

    X1 Questions

1: Don't know. I would just like to get what I've subscribed to, but it appears only Dish has that option. 2: Yes, there is a red dot on the show in the guide on the far left side. You may have to go over 30minutes to see it depending on the length of hte name of the show. 3: Easy is a...

    xfinity triple play

I believe the triple play deal requires a special cable modem for the phone. You'd probably be better to do the double play option and go with a VOIP phone. You can by your own modem that way and don't have to pay the $10/month modem rental fee. As far as Xfinity TV and internet (I only have...

    Xfinity's X1

That would be a great one. I wish I had an answer for it. FYI: The 30 second / 15 second features are not programmed into the remote. They program the DVR/STB to accept those buttons as those values. I had replaced one of the remotes already and didn't have to reprogram it.

Customers sue Comcast for turning routers into public Wi-fi hotspots

Hmm, doesn't work. I don't have an Xfinity Wireless Gateway. It comes by default with the Xfinity X1 DVR. Although, it is possible that it's my neighbors. It's a bit strong. Maybe the X1 doesn't have it built in. Looks like the 'Wave' of the future will be built with lots of interfering Comcast...

Customers sue Comcast for turning routers into public Wi-fi hotspots

I own my own modem, but this still happens. The new X1 dvr box comes with modem/router/wifi built in. It's separate from my normal internet connection. I noticed shortly after they installed it that we had a very strong xfinitywifi signal in our house now. Since the homes are close together...

    Xfinity's X1

I've been using the X1 system here in California since August. I've been very disappointed with their boxes. I've used Dish, Direct, U-Verse and now X1. By far, the X1 system is the worst of them all. The interface is fine, it's the hardware that I keep having problems with. Many times I get...

H1001 HDCP errors, anybody else get this?

I switched to Uverse in the beginning of January. The installer got everything hooked up, but I saw an HDMI Error with the TV. We switched cables and the error went away. While he was working on it, it would come back now and them. Once the configuration was set, I never saw the error again...

U-verse for Internet and phone - good idea?

What are you defining as 'reliable'? When I had AT&T DSL (pre Uverse), I had tried the 3 & 6 Mbps. At 3Mb, I rarely saw my download rate above 1.5Mb, and it was typically at 1Mb. With 6M service, I normally saw between 3 to 4Mb rates. Nothing higher, and sometimes a little slower. We now...

    Speed falling off...

What time of the day are you doing the tests? Is it also bad weather around? Most of the time, my rates are on the same high end (20+/4), but now and then, they slow down some. You might also want to reboot your router. I've found that some times its just the router that is causing the problem.

Any way to copy/transfer recordings from Comcast DVR?

Does the DCX 3400 box have a FireWire port? If so, the content is suppose to playback through that port. I never tried it, but many people talked about this option when I used to have a DVR box.

    internet connection speed.

Well, what is the network setup? Cable modem, router, wireless? Things to try 1) Reboot all the networking equipment (cable modem, router, wireless APs). Retest. If speeds are still slow, go to 2. 2) Plug a computer directly into the LAN cable on the Cable Modem. You'll need to reboot the...
