5 days of Comcast, back to DTV

Confirm. That's how I handle my weekly fix of The Soup.

    Why TWC gets me mad

The rant rings hollow if you're not willing to take action. I got DIRECTV 10 and a half years ago and kicked TWC fully to the curb 8 and a half years ago, I used a Lifeline cable connection to get my locals when I first picked up DIRECTV. As far as DISH goes, I'd go back to TWC before I'd go...

I moved 30 miles and TW doubled my charges. Check this out!

I have to admit that I am impressed. And next time, Jeff, tell the poster to send you a personal message through the board. I'd hate to see your good intentions go down the tubes with a slew of spam.

Dish and DirecTV HD DVRs vs. TiVO?

I'm guessing you're referring to TiVo Suggestions, which I shut off immediately on every TiVo I've owned. I have a hard time viewing all the recordings that I set up, I have no use for, as you say it, TiVo's guesses at what I might like. I think that statement speaks volumes. For some folks...

If you had your choice ?

My list would run like this: Verizon FIOS, as long as they have all the networks and RSNs in my area in HD at rollout DIRECTV Cable...ugh DISH Network The fact that DISH Network leads in the poll at the time of posting confirms the slant on this board.

    DTV Comcast rumor

^Which means you'll need a box for every set in the house, which means Cable will lose an advantage it has had over satellite.

Cable went up again for me!

Harrelson 69, are you not close enough to Verizon's CO for DSL?

    Do I need HDTV?

Your choice. It's pretty clear you're an analog guy in a digital world. A little surprised you found the Internet. I would say if you wanted to see HD sets in operation, WalMart isn't your best choice. You could buy there, but the setup at the local outlet leaves a lot to be desired. Better...

I Hate Digital Cable And Their Slow Channel Changing System

Bring yourself into the new millennium by getting a DVR. Channel surfing is so 20th Century.

Tivo & DirectTV or Dish Direct

What does the manual that came with your TiVo say on the subject, or did you throw that out?

    Who should i choose?

It's your money and your future. Do some research to find who carries the most of what you want at a price that's attractive to you. Not rocket science.

    Why choose Sat over cable?

That's because you're not watching enough TV. ;)

    Fios Salesman

Actually, it was nice of you to cut to the chase and it was smart of the rep to not waste both yours and his' time. Me though, I've been an NFL-ST sub since 1998 and I will probably cancel this Season because 1) I invested around the price of the package for an outdoor antenna for NBC SNF in HD...

    Why choose Sat over cable?

For my situation, these are the factors that keep me with DIRECTV rather than my local cable co., Time-Warner Cable: 1) I have waivers for CBS and FOX, which means I get the HD feeds out of NYC. TWC doesn't carry those nets in HD in my area. 2) I have Lifetime DVR service through DIRECTV. 3) I...

    Anyone use CableCard with TWC?

I've sold off my standalone TiVos, except for a S1 that can be used unsubbed, but I still have a couple of DirecTiVos, HD and SD, and I'll probably retire the SD come this Fall. I don't have a S3 since my primary programming source is DIRECTV.

    Anyone use CableCard with TWC?

If you go the TiVo Community Forum, TiVo Community & Store, and head to the Series 3 sub-forum you should find Official Cable Card threads for all the major cable companies. Find the TWC thread and do a search for your city. Of course, you could just call TWC in your area and ask.

DVR (thru Comcast) vs DvD Recorder

I've used my standalone DVD recorder for recording live TV a grand total of one time. DVRs are low maintenance, you have pretty much instant access to your recordings, and they're integrated so you don't need another stb if you have digital cable.

The Green Button is a real good resource for both Vista and MCE 2005 users.

Does Time Warner have these channels?

As hall says, it varies from location to location. You'd want to do a search for the Time-Warner in your region, then narrow it down in the Programming menu to your specific city.

    Satiellite vs. Cable

How are you getting your prices for satellite? I think you'll get your best deal by calling them and telling them your current situation, cable sub, and see what they offer. You might want to see if there's a package deal from the DSL provider that would include satellite TV. Whether sat or...
