    Fios Installer cut corners

navychop: Why? We have FIoS internet & telephone but we decided to stay with E* for the time being at least. The internet service is to die for! Period. Our daughter & son-in-law have the Triple Play - we were unimpressed with the TV - the TV picture quality is simply exceptional - the...

    FIOS 2.0 now available!!!!

FiOS is widely available here - the TV has its weaknesses (limited channel offering & lousy DVR) but the PQ is simply outstanding. The internet service is to die for, but the ActionTech router is weak and you need to use a better router if you do much P2P. We have elected for the time being to...

    AT&T Hits Brakes on UVERSE

We really do need to clear up a few things... We really do need to clear up a few things... 1) The present SouthWestern Bell conglomerate is AT&T in name only 2) Things worked under the old order (AT&T) 3) Verizon's FiOS w/Ivan, Mark, et al in the lead will ultimately win out (my...

    Review: AT&T U-VERSE

riffjim4069: Yup. You are right - it takes time to change the entire world. But my FiOS internet is worth it! Their ActionTech router leaves a bit to be desired, but I sure don't want to go back to the old DSL! --Doug

    Is FIOS that GOOD ?

The multiple room viewing option is expensive and is SD only if ported to another receiver (even if the original was recorded in HD), OTA is not supported, external storage is not presently supported, the hard drive is a bit small and the guide is pretty basic. BTW, Verizon offers limited...

    Is FIOS that GOOD ?

Verizon does not degrade the content provided to them and yes, I have seen FIOS on a good HD TV and yes, the picture quality is awesome.! This is their strongest point. Dish has the better DVR (622) wth OTA capability, a better program guide and offers more channels (SD & HD). But again...

NAVYCHOP: "I have Cox cable, you see" Simply says it all!! My daughter and her family live in Springfield - the Cox cable internet service was just terrible. It died seemingly every other minute!!! And Cox is expen$ive! They just couldn't wait to unload that dog! Old VZ missed their...

FIOS has been available to our house for a year or so but I have resisted because I really like my E* service and before this years' price increase & the Virginia 5% sales tax were added, E* gave you more HD for le$$. In addition, I really like the Sirius channels, I enjoy the VOOM package and...

    FiOS TV...the VOOMless HD Leader?

garlandtxuser:718893: I am a retired Bell Atlantic manager and am not at all hostile to VZ - I hold a good chunk of their stock - their product offering just doesn't meet my needs in a cost effective manner. Ok, let's assume I make the switch. BROADBAND I currently pay ~ $40/mo. for...

    FiOS TV...the VOOMless HD Leader?

Well, I'm just the opposite - I have E* and could have had FIOS for many months. My reasons for not going FIOS - 1) I must lose my Earthlink (3 email addresses), 2) Lousy DVR w/ no external storage, 3) No VOOM, 4) No Sirius music. My daughter & son-in-law are attempting to get FIOS again...

    Another FiOS TV Review

I Disagree!!! VZ is a great stock, but I have some problems with their FIOS Let me offer a few different points: 1) They won't share with other ISPs (Earthlink, etc.) 2) They only allow access to the verizon.net domain for email (If you have your own domain somewhere, you must get a...

    Verizon VA Info

I wonder if they will ever share their FIOS network with other ISPs since they have now made peace with Covad, etc.? I understand Verizon will light up my area of Fairfax County in a few months and if they would cut a deal with Earthlink, we just might have something to talk about... --Doug

Verizon's New High-Fiber 'Diet' for 16 New Jersey Communities

We wouldbe happy to go with VZ's FIOS if they would just open up and let Earthlink in. We have had Earthlink for years and really don't want to change our email addresses. Our present DSL maxes out at around 719K, so we just get by with that. --Doug

    Major SatelliteGuys FIOS Rumor!

Well, just remember that talk is pretty cheap. So, let's just wait a bit and see what actually comes out of all of this. Verizon Wins Approval to Sell Cable in Fairfax County

HOORAY!!!!!! Soon we will see how FIOS stacks up against DISH. (D* is too costly & PQ is weak + CoxCable of Fairfax offers very high pricing with low PQ on all tiers - can you say, "Gouge the consumer?") BTW, Thanks, riffjim4069!! --Doug

Do you use Broadband or Dial-up?

DSL. Verizon will only allow 768K for non-Verizon ISPs (I have Earthlink) but it's sufficient. Our cable company (Cox) offers faster, but they won't lease to other ISPs and the wife and I don't want to change our email addresses if we don't have to and Cox is the pits anyway. da Doug
