Comcast May Drop NBC Locals (WHAT?!?!)

ABC does apparently have a national feed now, that carries ABC TV Network shows and uses "ABC News Live" programming to fill in the non-network timeslots. I get this "ABC General" on T-Mobile T-Vision.

Comcast Economy [Favorite Channel List or Simplifying the Guide?]

Yeah I would actually say just get an antenna and a Roku, and use Pluto, Stirr, Xumo for hundreds of free channels, and Philo or Sling if you want to pay $20 or $25 to get a decent "cable" type package. At least in some areas Comcast has an internet only plan where you get 25 Mbps down / 2 Mbps...

Digital Preferred Channels on Comcast Digital Adapter?

I believe the DTA only receives channels either in Clear QAM or encrypted in a 56 bit Motorola Privacy Mode. I think that the cable companies should be required to provide any channel that is originally broadcast free OTA in a Clear QAM format, but the FCC thinks it's fine to let consumers get...

    I now hate Comcast

Yeah, I don't understand what they are thinking with this. Why wouldn't I just go to DTV NOW, Sling TV, or PS Vue if I have to pay $7.50/mo/outlet? The whole point of owning one's own equipment is to get away from constant fees.

Has that been confirmed? I'm curious.

Comcast Xfinity heads to Roku and Samsung TVs without a box (Update: FCC responds)

CableCard wasn't a great technology, but let's face it, the cable industry never wanted it to work -they wanted to keep renting crappy boxes at inflated prices. And we need something that is an open standard, not something that you have to license at great expense. Example: The manufacturer of...

Comcast Xfinity heads to Roku and Samsung TVs without a box (Update: FCC responds)

I know it's not just Comcast and actually it's not just DVRs. I think a lot of TV manufacturers would like to make Digital Cable Ready TVs that (at least) have the same functions of an HD-DTA built into the TV. And I believe they should be able to do that without having to sign special deals...

Comcast Xfinity heads to Roku and Samsung TVs without a box (Update: FCC responds)

The FCC wants Comcast to open their system up at a deeper level so that, for example, someone could develop their own DVR system. If all we get is a Comcast App, then we're limited - we only get a DVR if Comcast offers it, and then, if we don't like it, tough, because no one else would be...

    Big discounts in southern region

I'm single, though, and I work at a large university with plenty of bandwidth - I can't think of any reason I really need more than 25 megs at home. I'm usually only doing at most two things at once that use bandwidth, like streaming on a Roku and using my iPhone. Or, maybe, music playing on...

    Big discounts in southern region

I'm thinking about this offer: A chat with Amazon confirmed that this plan includes 1 X1 cable box with HD and DVR service. The only additional leasing fees are for additional cable boxes or optionally a modem (I own mine). My previous promo just ended (~$55 total including taxes and fees for...

    Big discounts in southern region

That is close to a standard offer in my area: "X1 Starter Double Play: 140 channels, X1 box, 75 Meg internet, Streampix included for $89.99/mo."

Amazon is now selling Comcast phone, internet, and TV service

I went into a web chat with Amazon, and the guy in the chat said he called Comcast to find this out for me. Only when ordered on Amazon, Comcast has created a special package where "The first box is included and it is a X1 box. After the first box there is an additional fee per box." I...

Amazon is now selling Comcast phone, internet, and TV service

The interesting thing for me is that Amazon says they are offering the Internet Plus package (25 Mbps internet, "30+ channels" (probably Limited Basic), HBO) for $39.99 and it says "Includes: HD/DVR service charges (up to $20/month value), if applicable" and further down the page under the TV...

    Does Comcast have free previews?

I don't know how you would get it on the TiVo, if you even would.. but when Comcast is doing a free preview, sometimes they actually send a message to the cable box. Like email, kind of? You go into the menu and there is a mail envelope icon that you open and there are messages.

    New Comcast Sub

Apparently Comcast says that the Broadcast TV Fee can be up to $5 depending on the market. And since almost all my local channels except one are owned by huge conglomerates now, I guess they have made Comcast pay. It probably also doesn't help that CBS changed affiliates, partially due to the...

    New Comcast Sub

They raised my Broadcast TV fee to $4.50. I think it's time to renegotiate with Comcast again. I know they can't negotiate on the below the line fees, but maybe they can come with a cheaper package for me.

Most of our subs are in the 200 range but not all of them. Bounce TV is located near BET, Create is located near HGTV, etc.

    Who thought this up???

I think Viacom is slowly getting dumped, because providers are realizing that although people like the channels, there's very little "must have" programming. http://fortune.com/2016/01/15/comcast-viacom-channels/

    Still love Comcast Part 2

Thanks for the info. In my area (Central Indiana) I was lied to on the phone, but went to an Xfinity retail store, where they found me a no contract plan that was cheaper than what I was offered on the phone, for slightly less channels. Maybe it's time I went back to the Xfinity store to see if...

    Still love Comcast Part 2

So... Right now I have "Internet Plus" which is Limited Basic + HBO + 25 Mbps internet and it costs approx $56 with taxes (including the $5 discount for ecobill). They advertise a price of $45 but it doesn't include taxes and fees. They advertise this selection of plans: Are you suggesting that...

    Still love Comcast Part 2

I didn't know FOOD, FX, FXX were also changing tiers. But this does have me wondering if I shouldn't press for a better deal again. I currently have Internet Plus (25 Meg internet, Limited Basic, HBO) and with the new fees this year it's up over $56. Also on my bill it says GAC is being added to...

    Full MPEG4 Markets?

You would think they'd need MPEG4 DTAs to do that - is there such a thing?
