    chromecast to reach potential?

Mirroring means apps like DISHAnywhere will work even if they don't have the casting protocol in them. So long as you have an Android device that is compatible with this feature. This is a killer $35 stick.

    YouTube Comes to (More) Rokus

I finally got around to firing up and updating my Roku 2 XS. As I feared, the YouTube app is slow. The interface really lags and I had one glitch while playing back video where it froze and the skipped ahead to match up with the audio again. Nothing at all like what it is on the Roku 3. Or any...

    YouTube Comes to (More) Rokus

Finally making good on a promise they made back when they were pretty much the only game in town besides AppleTV. Roku has finally made YouTube available to more boxes besides the Roku 3...

    Videostream for Chromecast

I wanted to share this specific app with everyone here because I know from past discussions about devices that support DLNA (Dish Hopper, PS3, GoogleTV) people are looking for dead simple ways to stream .mkv files to their TVs. Well with your Chrome browser and Chromecast. It doesn't get much...

Google TV out Android TV in (with pictures)

The Verge has a story up about a leaked document they were given that talks about what Android TV actually is and the direction that Google is going to take with it. This is the successor to GoogleTV. A product that I've been a fan of, but because of TV industry politics, half-baked hardware and...

Chromecast support comes to Rdio and Crackle

At this rate, the Chromecast will have more apps than the Roku. It's the beauty of an open system. Don't get me wrong, anyone can write a Roku channel, but you have to submit them to Roku and they have to accept it. Yes, there are "hidden" channels, but someone still needs to put them up there.

    ROKU Models

That's the faster processor at work. Not only is the Roku 3 processor 300Mhz faster, but it's dual core.

The app was updated this weekend and their website player now has a Chromecast button. All good stuff. Loving how there's new apps pretty much every week now.

    Roku 3500R(Streaming Stick)

This new streaming stick as the same processor as the old stick which is the same one that was in their last gen Roku 2 line of boxes. Same amount of memory. The remote is WiFi Direct, but without the audio jack for listening through a pair of headphones and A/B game buttons. Finally, there...

Roku Sticks It to Chromecast with $50 Streaming Stick

It might depend on the app. When you play a YouTube or Netflix video and move away from the remote control panel on your phone, it becomes a notification line on your phone you can tap to pause/play or advance or tap the main part of the application to go back to the full screen control app. The...

    Super HD?

Oh sorry I missed that. I'm on Charter too and my quality is great. Then again I don't think I have many people using it in my neighborhood because I have no issues at all downloading and streaming anything except iTunes which is because I'm using OpenDNS and Apple's CDN is confused by it.

    Super HD?

Well then it's lucky for you that Vudu is offering new members 5 free movies. No purchase necessary. Vudu usually has a bandwidth tester in their app that tells you what level of HD you can get. I would give it a try...

Interesting article about TWC on streaming devices such as Roku etc..

Didn't Time Warner or Comcast win a copyright case for a cloud DVR solution for their customers? Knowing what I know now about IPTV working for a local cooperative. It wouldn't be that hard to just record shows customers want at the datacenter and then stream it to customers that request it.

    ROKU UPDATES DURING USE NOW????

Your Roku isn't updating... it's crashing hard. The Roku does a check for channel and system updates either when it's idle or when you first boot it if you remove power from it when you don't use it. (I have mine hooked up to one of those power strips that has a "master" device that kills it...

    New IPTV service?

If they have done the impossible and made the deals to provide actual linear cable channels over a regular broadband connection, then this looks like it could be something to pay attention to. Some other companies have said they made the deals, but it turned out to be a really fancy RSS video...

Google introduces Chromecast, a $35 HDMI streaming solution for televisions

What? I positive review of a Google product from Walt Mosspuppet? So you know what would be cool... if the Dish Anywhere app could support Chromecast. Again, going to another home and streaming your Hopper to a friends big screen TV... EPIC!!! ?My Chromecast will be here Monday straight from...

Google introduces Chromecast, a $35 HDMI streaming solution for televisions

First off, Chromecast is not about getting a Chrome tab on your TV screen. That's just a, for now, beta feature that might not work all that well because of the web content providers stupid insistence on using Flash for web video because it's easy not because it's any good. What Chomecast is...

Amazon VOD - Xbox 360 vs Roku 3

Probably would want to go with the Roku 3 just for the fact that the 360 requires Gold and from the sound of it you don't have an Xbox Live Gold account already.

Annual Google IO GoogleTV Post - 2013

Actually, Google took over making updates for the Revue. I gave mine to my dad and it's still chugging away. There was a period of a couple weeks back in Jan/Feb where the Play Store was screwed up, but they eventually updated it.

Annual Google IO GoogleTV Post - 2013

I know there are probably more people that don't care at all about GoogleTV than do, but I'm going to post this here anyway. So even though it wasn't mentioned at all during the keynote, there is a small bit of GoogleTV news to post about today. GoogleTV is going to be updated to Android...
