What baseball stadium was the newest when you were born?

Cleveland Stadium was six years old when I was born. Baker Bowl was in its final year and the Phillies were moving in to Shibe Park with Connie Mack's Athletics. A little scary to realize I am that old. However my mind is still good and sharp. Now, what was the question?

    Sports tickers on TV channels

I don't think they hire musicians, but they sure play their awful music at high volume. By the way so does CNN. One of their morning anchors even complained about it. I think I am just too old and set in my ways, but I may as well enjoy a rant now and then!

    Sports tickers on TV channels

ESPN needs to do more sports and fewer sit down comics. They really do not need Stone Temple Pilots or any other "musicians". If I want music I'll watch MTV. Fox also needs to lose the dancing robots, especially on their NFL telecasts. My not so humble opinion only.

    An historic night for baseball

Yes, I think he is getting near to the recently passed Robin Roberts:angel:. Roberts had around 505. I think Moyer is in the 480's. I don't remember the actual numbers, but I do know that both pitchers pitched a lot of years and a lot of innings. I wonder how those facts would break down to HRs...

    An historic night for baseball

What a night for baseball. We were reminded that baseball is for all ages. Cubs rookie Starlin Castro homers in his first MLB at bat. Then he later adds a bases loaded triple to set a new record of six RBI's in his major league debut. At about the same time Jamie Moyer , a man with four years...

    2009-10 Hot Stove Baseball

I laid awake most of the night thinking about the looming deal by the Phillies Mariners and Blue Jays. I could not rid myself of the thought the Phillies pitching staff would likely be called the HaHaHa Bla gang. In case you are slow this morning I will give an explanation on request. Now I hear...

    Hypothetical MLB Divisional Realignment

Wow! That Elitist division would really be tough. Can you imagine Yankees, Red Sox and Phillies playing head to head to head in the same division. Unlikely to ever happen but it sure is fun to speculate. Keep on talking baseball. We can't forget it just because the series is over. I'm ready for...

I suspect there is something in the grease he uses on his hair. That's more than Brylcreem. Even more than Crisco. They don't need him to pee in a cup. Only his hair dresser knows for sure.

    2009 MLB Playoffs

Good grief, you must be nearly as old as me if you remember that. That was the only year I ever had series tickets. Oh well, wait till next year.

So does moving runners around the bases. Waiting until the bases are empty to hit one out does not win.

    2009 MLB Playoffs

I agree, only problem is I have Dish therefore no MLB Network. Thanks all for your explanations of the rating discussion. Should have been obvious to me. My team looked bad last night but still enjoying the series. I just wish I could get used to strikeout after strikeout. A running catch or a...

    2009 MLB Playoffs

Cosmo and DK, are you in the TV field? Why else would you care about ratings? All I want is a good series between the two teams representing their respective leagues. Of course I have my favorites but I love any World Series. Not meant to be critical, just wondering about the ratings discussions.

I misspoke. I meant to write "since when were fans considered people?"

    World Series

OK, but Paul said the people of Philadelphia, not the fans. Since when are fans considered people? By the way, I stopped attending Phillies games many years before I moved away for the very reason you are talking about. The last games I saw were when my daughter and then my son sang the...

    World Series

On what do you base your dislike of Philadelphia people? Have you ever been there? I have lived among both Philadelphia people and New York people. Believe I'll take Philly any time. I actually lived in New York South (a gated over 55 community in Florida). Couldn't wait to move halfway back...

    2009 MLB Playoffs

Well, the Phillies have now scored more runs in one game than they did in the entire 1950 WS against the Yankees. I am surprised but delighted to see the Phillies win game one. I just hope they can win three more.

Does anybody else think Nick Swisher looks like Michael J. Pollard the actor who played C. W. Moss in the movie Bonnie and Clyde? I will also like to inform you people to give up on the BBQ war. Everybody knows North Carolina BBQ cannot be beaten by anyone anywhere.

Don't like the announcers? I put my XM radio next to the tv and turn off the tv sound. Did that because of McCarver. He was at one time one of my favorites but he just grates on my nerves now. Doesn't take long to adapt to some delay and the commercials are hilarious when the sound is...

    2009 MLB Playoffs

I yearn for the days when you had iron men pitching. Men who could pitch a complete game , before the days of pitch counts and specialists. Maybe managers should take note that there are some players that can work more than 100 pitches. I know it will never happen but I would like to see a...

When did we get off baseball? Although I don't mind reading this stuff we are on a baseball forum. What a guy does with his bat and balls belongs on another thread.

    2009 MLB Playoffs

You have got to love the fact that both Ryan Howard and A-Rod have tied Lou Gehrig's RBI record in the same year. I would love to see both of them keep it up through the entire post season. Right now it appears they will be facing each other in the WS. I dislike the Yankees but only because...

    2009 MLB Playoffs

Where are all the people that claim instant replay will harm the integrity of baseball. Integrity may be the wrong word but somebody or something really has to help these poor guys to see a play right in front of them. I think you will have to admit that despite the slow down caused in football...

    2009 MLB Playoffs

Excellent point. I never thought of it in those terms. When I first read your reply I thought you were playing with my mind. An easy thing to do. When you look at it as scoring plays it makes sense. I guess there are some smart people on the left coast. Just kidding. :D
