I have a Dish 811 receiver, which I believe has got damaged. ( It cannot find the even transponders - which I was told are at the higher frequency side )

I also have Dish Home Protection plan. I spent an hour yesterday with the technical support trying various things/holding the line etc. before the phone got disconnected.

I dont think there is any option other than to get the receiver replaced.

But I dont know how they can replace the 811, since they dont make this any more.

Can somebody tell me what they do in such circumstances. Im sure I will be going through another hour with the tech support, before they will even talk about the home protection and related stuff.
I dont feel like going through the torture if I know they cannot replace/repair my receiver.

Also does anybody know if they have any promotion for Vip 211 lease ?
( Vip 622 has a promotion of 49$ + 5 $ pm -> after they refund the 100$ you pay initially 149 - 100 = 49 )

Your problem is possibly in the switch or the LNB(s) and not the receiver.

As for replacing the 811, don't worry, Dish probably has plenty. You are not guaranteed a new unit from the protection plan. You will probably get a refurbished one. Someone here just posted that they had a problem with their 721 DVR and got a replacement for it.

Doesn't Dish have plans to swap out 811, 921, and 942 models in the near future ?

they do i think for 811 you can get 211 if you sign up for the mpeg 4 voom hd stuff.

I dont think its the switch, because I connected the receiver directly to the DPP44 switch and still had the problem.
Meanwhile my vip211 has no problem at all.

I already have the HD Bronze package. So I dont think they will give me a vip211 as a 811 replacement.

Moreover I own the 811. So they will have to just give the replacement to me ( not a lease )

Thanks again

Could still be the LNB(s).

Reason I mentioned the swap out option, I didn't know if you could get a 211 (or 622/722) cheaper if you can hold out for a while.

New VOOM Satellites - Whatever became of them?

Self installation or Professional?
