DVR 921 hard drive failure

My owned dish dvr 921's Hard Drive has failed, however I received my first 921 receiver over 18 months ago, when I signed up for 1 yr. The receiver had been replaced by a refurbished one about 9 months after I got it for a software issue though. Is there any chance Dish Network would replace it now again for free? Or should I attempt to clone the drive with Ghost (I heard somewhere..) onto a new drive?

Sign up for the protection plan then wait a day or two... although I had a 501 die and the Csr (american) signed me up then replaced on the same call...
