I switched from dish to voom approx April of 2004. With voom gone, and with significant time that has passed since i was a customer of dish, can i qualify as a new customer with dish? If I dont, are there any low cost options with a HD receiver (811 maybe), and/or a dvr? (Not interested in the 942, wife will kill me if i outlay any more cash for tv....)
thanks

If SBC is in your area, you can sign up as a new SBC Dish customer after 6 months away from Dish. However, I would wait until they release their new exclusive receiver, SBC HomeZone. (Formerly known as MediaPortal). It is apparently head and shoulders above anything Dish offers directly. (Plus, it's not designed or built by Dish, so it should be far more reliable out of the gate.)

Unfortunately, SBC does not offer the Voom channels, currently. Hopefully, they will straighten out this issue during their current negotions with Dish.

thanks, any idea when the new receiver is release?

Not 100% sure but I think you can be a new dish customer after 18 months.
May want a second opinion or even call dish. Having a new phone number might also help.
