A Walk On The Moon (1987)

Review:
A small Colombian village in 1969 is the backdrop for this moving and superbly acted drama. Everett Jones (Kevin Anderson) is an idealistic Peace Corps volunteer assigned to Colombia who must struggle with local complacency and cynical colleagues as he strives to improve conditions for the villagers. Produced independently in 1985, A WALK ON THE MOON benefits from a fine script, inspired acting, generous use of an authentic location and its inhabitants, and sincere direction. Anderson is exceptional, as are Kinney and Robins. The major fault is the reliance on Anderson's narration to supply the audience with information that is either unnecessary or that could be better given visually.
