It wasn't hard in the first place. Haven't had a problem with a carrier unlocking a phone for me over the past 3+ years.

My iPhone escapades (detailed elsewhere) came several weeks too soon for this to have helped me. Now I own an Unlocked phone that is all mine, giving me the freedom to move around if need be.
