I have only the TurboHd Silver pack, but I wanted to know if everything I am getting is MPEG-4 or if there was a way to tell. I know that MPEG-4 takes up less space on the DVR so I wanted to estimate how much time I actually have left.

On the Eastern Arc, everything is MPEG4.

For the legacy arc, all SDs are MPEG2. From 110, a few of the old HDs are MPEG2. They are, if memory serves, ESPN, ESPN 2, TNT, HD Net, ND Net Movies, one HD PPV , HBO HD and Showtime HD. They were supposed to go MPEG 4 a month ago; no word in what the holdup is.

(Note: USA, SciFi, and a few HD PPVs are at 110, but in MPEG4.)

The transition is going a bit slower than expected; still customers with 811's/9xx's out there. Only noticed them ~ a month or two ago.

Not sure what I am pointing at. I have 2 dishes both say 500 on them. One is pointing at 61.5 and the other at 110/119 I believe. So I am not sure what I am getting from each.

Huh? My understanding was that the MPEG2 channels are in the 6200 range whereas the MPEG4 channels are in the 9400, upper 300, etc. ranges. (Fox Sports Net SW is in some weird location which is always fun to look for at game time,)

He's talking about receiver numbers, not channel numbers. 811s, 921s and 942s are MPEG2 HD receivers. Also, all the channel numbers are thrown together for HD. The ones in the 9400 range are only visible to MPEG4 receivers to motivate people to get upgrades. The ones in the 6200 range are just remaped.

need to configure a bit of a different setup

PBS after "moving"
