Been curious for awhile, just never asked:

  • What actual rez do they display at? Are they 24hz?
  • Are they professionally calibrated?
  • I see everyone is advertising "digital" and "dlp" now. Why dont folks see rainbows?
  • What do they cost?

Haha, still good info. Ive done a bit of reading today, and found that stuff mike posted. It's sad really, because these newer DLP/Real 3D PJ's in theaters are very nice, and calibrated, plus they display a proper frame rate. Probably the best and one of the most accurate ways to watch a movie, except for the phones and people that cannot shutup.

I was just curious because my wife and I are going to give the weekly movie another shot, with HP DH Pt 2 tonight, and Captain America next weekend. I enjoyed Bayformers 3 3D, so hopefully it will continue. We used to hit the local cinema once a week every week just about, but quit. When I can (working today), Ive found noon on Sunday to be the best non A-Hole time

Another thing theaters get 12 bits/color (vs 8 on Blu-ray) and 250mbit/sec (vs 50 peak on Blu-Ray).
