So to make things even better, besides losing AMC, they changed my locals from Dayton, OH (in HD) to Lima, OH (in SD). I also lost my CW local as well. I called the 'helpful' reps at Dish & they told me the FCC did it. I have had Dayton since signing up. The rep said that "If you ever had Dayton locals it was a mistake". No it was no mistake, I have been a customer since before there were Lima locals, so I had Dayton. He basically called me a liar. His boss called me a liar & hung up on me. If you are thinking of signing up for Dish (I just re-signed for 2 years, stupid me) get everything in writing as they WILL rip you off. Better yet, don't sign up for Dish.

Sounds like in the meantime, change your service address (NOT the billing address) and do a "move."

The FCC/Nielsen each year around this time does review areas and change counties for specific markets and Dish and Directv have to follow that

Well it sounds like you may be being told the correct thing. Go to their site and look up what your locals are based on your zip code.

If DISH is correcting their offering, it is likely that their competitors will soon be making the same "correction".
I'm not sure what STELA demands, but it used to be that the satellite carrier could choose from one of the last five years of DMA maps. If the Lima market is growing, it is likely that the boundary is extending outward.
DISH doesn't get to make a choice on your locals nor do they get to demand HD if the stations don't offer it.
Your beef probably rests squarely with the stations, not DISH, the FCC or even Nielsen (for observing that the shopping habits of your neighbors has changed).

Maybe Dish will upgrade Lima to HD when they launch E16 later this year. It would be nice if Dish could upgrade more markets to HD.

I want what I had. HD. I had Dayton, OH locals because when I signed up Lima, OH wasn't on Dish. I have had Dayton for 11 years. I just signed up for a 2 year extension to get the Hopper (big mistake), once it is over, even if they have made everything right, I am dumping Dish anyway.
I have had Dayton locals since sign up 11 years ago. Lima,OH wasn't available 11 years ago, the closest was Dayton. What upset me the most was the rep saying I could have never had Dayton. His name was CJ & he did every thing except flat out call me a liar.
The information you were given more and more appears to be correct. You are now not supposed to get those locals, it isn't something Dish can control if you are now considered to be in the Lima DMA. I honestly don't understand what Dish can do. You have been given information on what you can do to keep them.
You say you are going to "Dump" dish, I don't understand why you signed another two year contract, virtually every post you have made is about a problem you have with their service. I happen to like their service, but if I had all the problems you have no way would I still use them.
One other thing, try a DIRT member and see if they can confirm this has been correctly changed and not a mistake.

I signed a new 2 year contract 30 days ago so I could get the Hopper. I was had a 622 & a 522 before that. Had I been informed 30 days ago they were going to change this I would have left before getting the new equipment & signing the new contract. I had no problems with Dish for 11 years up until 7/2/2012.
The only thing you will be able to do at this point is to "move" back into the Dayton, OH DMA.
I do wish the satellite companies could follow the same rules as the local cable cos. Our local cable co. provides locals in two markets simultaneously.

I know someone in Troy, OH which is just North of Dayton. If I 'move' to their address by editing my info online, does everything just automatically switch?
Make sure they either do not have DISH or will never get DISH before you choose their address. You have to have DISH change your service address. The best way to do this is via the online chat. Once they swap it over your locals will change back to the Dayton locals.
