A number of Star Wars: The Force Awakens posters or pieces of promotional artwork appear to have leaked on social media this morning, ahead of Star Wars Celebration.Tim Veekhoven, a contributor to the official Star Wars website, wrote on Twitter that he spotted the images on the Facebook page for Saga Skywalker Valencia, a Star Wars fan group based in Valencia, Spain.You can see characters such as Kylo Ren, the villain who wields a lightsaber with a lightsaber crossguard, as well as many Stormtroopers. The art looks to be of the same proportions as typical movie posters, but doesn't seem to have the same visual flair you might expect from official productions. We'll have to see if Disney and Lucasfilm reveal more this week.You can see all five images below.

It’s a question we’ve pondered ever since his flickering new lightsaber was revealed to the world in the first trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’. But while Entertainment Weekly attempts to unmask the ‘Star Wars’ villain, it seems they’re raising far more questions than they answer.“The movie explains the origins of the mask and where it’s from,” said J.J. Abrams. “But the design was meant to be a nod to the Vader mask. [Ren] is well aware of what’s come before, and that’s very much a part of the story of the film.”Of course, it’s been rumoured for some time that Kylo Ren is obsessed with the legend of Darth Vader… and there seems to be a ring of truth to this. But was he trained in the Dark ways of the Force? It looks as though he may have taken that upon himself…
Mark Hamill is making his return as Luke Skywalker in the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but there's been plenty of speculation about just how the character will come back. The Untitled Han Solo Project (featuring Greedo on bass!) is slated for release May 25, 2018.Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) checked in from the set of Rogue One, the anthology film coming in December 2016 about the Rebel Alliance spies who jacked the Death Star plans from the Empire. He introduced the full ensemble and shared the first cast shot, featuring geared-up stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, and Forest Whitaker.But wait, there was more! Walt Disney Studios boss Alan Horn officially announced Rian Johnson (Looper) would write and direct Episode XIII for 2017; Horn then dropped a bigger bombshell: Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow has been tapped to helm Episode IX for 2019.
Half the fun of being at a big convention or expo like D23 is getting the exclusive merchandise. So when Disney/Lucasfilm wrapped up their presentation for the year, everyone in the audience got an exclusive Drew Struzan.For those who don’t keep up with poster artists, Struzan has drawn posters for every installment of the “Star Wars” franchise. But his D23 poster had a nice little confirmation Easter Egg for obsessive “The Force Awakens” fans:Finn uses a lightsaber.Way back in April — at Star Wars Celebrations — concept art of Finn had him in possession of a certain blue lightsaber hilt that was lost in the bowels of Cloud City. Struzan’s poster just confirms what we already know. But it’s still nice.Now it’s just a matter of how exactly did Finn get his hands on Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber.Also, please note the use of double suns in the background of the Jakku imagery. This just adds more fuel to the speculation fire that Jakku is either the First Order name of Tatooine or a code name utilized to throw fans off the scent.[UPDATE 8/15/15 4:58PM EDT]: In my excitement, I missed the third sun down in the lower left corner. So what does it mean? Three suns over Jakku? A setting sun in motion? A completely different moisture farming set piece?
If this is true, call it Industrial Light and Dark Magic.The Daily Mail is reporting that Peter Cushing, who played Grand Moff Tarkin in Star Wars, will be digitally resurrected for the upcoming spinoff, Rogue One. For those that don’t know, the plot of Rogue One is about a group of resistance fighters who unite to steal the plans for the Death Star.It makes sense for Tarkin to be a key character since he’s instrumental in the building of the Death Star, and a source tells the Mail, “This is one of the most complex and costly CGI re-creations ever. Cushing is a pivotal plot line as he was the one to create Darth Vader and there’s a whole back story that will come out.” If this is true, that means Darth Vader is probably coming back, but it’s a whole lot easier to put him into the new movies than it is for Cushing, who died of prostate cancer in 1994.
We are now just under three months away from the premiere of Star Wars – Episode VII: The Force Awakens. So far fans have been treated to a couple of trailers and some promotional images, but on the whole, J.J. Abrams' new project has remained pretty hushed. Clearly Disney and Lucasfilm want to prevent spoilers from leaking to the public as much as possible, but as the release date draws closer, more and more images have begun to emerge.So far the focus has been centered on the new characters that audiences will meet for the first time in December. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, however, as we already know that Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, C-3PO, R2-D2 and Chewbacca will all be returning in Episode VII. Since fans are obviously familiar with these characters, the attention has been placed on the heroes and villains that will emerge in the new trilogy.Thanks to our friends over at Lestoilesheroiques (via CBM), a slew of new promotional images have been leaked showing a number of characters from The Force Awakens. There are lots of glimpses of the First Order, the antagonistic remnants of the fallen Empire. Sith lord Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) is heavily featured as the film’s presumed main villain. There’s also the presence of Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), the chrome-armored stormtrooper commander who is sure to stir up some trouble. Along with the dark side users, there’s also a showcase of the heroes of Episode VII including Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and the loyal droids, particularly newcomer BB-8. It seems there’s a slim chance that Darth Vader may return in the ‘Star Wars’ sequels… but will he really be played by Hayden Christensen?According to Making Star Wars, the 34-year-old ‘Star Wars’ prequel actor might be picking up his old lightsaber in ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’.“A team in the U.K. are soon heading to the U.S. to begin training Hayden Christensen for a Star Wars: Episode VIII appearance of some sort,” they revealed. But it comes with a word of warning: “This is a rumor I raise an eyebrow at incredulously.”Of course, Hayden Christensen became famous for his rather wooden performance as Anakin Skywalker – the young Jedi who would eventually become Darth Vader.Starring in both ‘Attack of the Clones’ and ‘Revenge of the Sith’, he gave a human face to one of the galaxy’s most-feared villains. And by the end of the prequel trilogy, he even got the chance to suit up in the classic helmet and cape, complete with dodgy-breathing.

'The Force Awakens' follows 'Return of the Jedi' and continues that generational story."She continued about the spinoffs, "The Anthology films offer opportunities to explore fresh characters, new storylines and a variety of genres inside the 'Star Wars' universe."As for the continuation of the Skywalker story, accoriding to The Hollywood Reporter, a new character Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, is rumored to possibly be Leia and Han's daughter.Maybe uncle Luke can teach her the ways of the Force?Lucasfilms has not responded to a call seeking confirmation of Kennedy's quotes in the magazine.

In addition, Disney is attempting to keep the film’s secrets under wraps, so there will be minimal screenings for press and cast and crew in advance of the premiere. While members of the cast of the J.J. Abrams-helmed film have appeared at Comic-Con and Star Wars Celebration over the past year, the world premiere also is likely to be the first time that most or all of the cast will be seen together.
If there’s anything the toy-based spoilers proved, it’s that information-starved Star Wars fans will take any plot tidbits they can get in the months leading up to The Force Awakens. On Saturday during New York City Comic Con’s Disney-LucasFilms publishing panel, writers of a new wave of Star Wars novelizations explained that a photo from Vanity Fair’s June spread revealed more about the Star Wars universe than anyone previously realized.(You’ll want to go ahead and open that photo now, since we can’t run it and you will be curious to see who we’re discussing.)According to the panel, while all the characters in the photo were originally thought to be nothing more than alien extras, it turns out there’s a lot more to them (albeit, still with limited supporting information). And the guy in the red on the left will be featured in an intergalactic swashbuckling pirate story by veteran Star Wars expanded universe writer Alan Dean Foster called “The Crimson Corsair and the Lost Treasure of Count Dooku.” So two new characters. That’s huge! Sort of!
Back in May, Vanity Fair introduced audiences to a few key Star Wars: The Force Awakens characters, like Adam Driver's Kylo Ren and Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma.Originally two of the characters in the exclusive Vanity Fair spread were thought to be alien extras of little importance to the actual film, but according to news that came out of a New York Comic Con panel, they're integral to the story.Vulture is reporting that one of the characters pictured in the original spread (the girl in the middle cozying up to the giant alien looking creature) is named Bazine. She'll receive her own short story written by Delilah Dawson before the movie premieres. The story is scheduled to be released on Nov. 24.Also pictured in the centerfold, to the very right, is a figure dressed all in red. The character, aptly named "The Crimson Corsair" will receive his very own story penned by veteran Star Wars expansive universe author Alan Dean Foster entitled "The Crimson Corsair and the Lost Treasure of Count Dooku."
The back story of Rey, Luke Skywalker and the Knights of Ren will reportedly be connected in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Details about flashback scenes in the movie reveal what happened to Luke and his lightsaber, before the timeline of the movie.[Spoiler alert]According to a report by Star Wars Underworld, one of the scenes in the movie shows Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o) leading Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Finn (John Boyega) and Rey (Daisy Ridley) down the stairs towards the catacombs of a castle. Maz will tell the events of the original trilogy and the scene will later cut to a flashback during this conversation.In the flashback scene, Luke returns to his “academy” and will find that everyone there has been killed. The report speculated that this is the work of the mysterious group called the Knights of Ren. The scene in the trailer of a hooded figure putting his arm on R2-D2 is apparently Luke saying “goodbye” to the droid, before going into hiding.
Carrie Fisher is sharing her years of accumulated “Star Wars” wisdom with her new “Force Awakens” co-star Daisy Ridley, including a sage piece of advice about potentially sexist costume choices.You should fight for your outfit,” Fisher said in an interview between herself and Ridley for Interview Magazine. “Don’t be a slave like I was.“All right, I’ll fight,” Ridley agreed.“You keep fighting against that slave outfit,” Fisher insisted. She also warned Ridley, “it’s hard to date once you’re a big ‘Star Wars’ star because you don’t want to give people the ability to say, ‘I had sex with Princess Leia.'”The costume discussion was prompted by Fisher warning Ridley that her life will change once “The Force Awakens” hits theaters: “You’re going to have people have fantasies about you! However, one fan-favorite character has been noticeably missing from the marketing campaign: Luke Skywalker, the farmboy-turned-Jedi who served as the hero and audience proxy throughout the first three films.Director J.J.
