Well..I called Dish Network yesterday and I questioned them to great LENGTHS about the 522 and when they're gonna release the new software to FIX the closed captioning screwups. I've done everything imaginable to see if I could fix the closed captioning. Moved to another tv...still no go..tried another friends tv..no go. Called and B*$@!...no go. Rebooted the 522 over a thousand times to fix the captioning TEMPORARILY (KEYWORD - TEMPORARILY) They say they are aware of it..and working on it. I've been with Dish nearly 7 years...and we all know how their "expected time of release" goes. They culdnt give me a straight answer. Told them...send the boxes..Im turning in my 522 and going back to my good ol' trusty 501 and 301. Tried to talk me out of it..but sad to say..I turned them away.

I love my wife...and lately my wife has been screaming murder with me over the 522. We both demand/require closed captioning in our everyday lives. My shoulder is gettin kinda bruised now, if ya follow me guys. Someday...I hope Charlie will get off his laurels and release the NBR for the 50x versions. I really liked the NBR....so sad. :(

It was doing it on BOTH TV1 and TV2...

Actually..I havent heard/read many reviews/gripes/complaints about the 322. I needed the 522 for its dual recording capablities. Folks at Dish said they were aware of the problem with 522..and that MANY...MANY..MANY people like myself called in their complaints about the Closed Captioning. Tech support directed them to try S-video...Composite cables..and good ol junky coax cables. I use ONLY S-Video..but if need to..will use composite. Tried all 3 ways...no go! If you give Dish a call and inquire about the 522 closed captioning..they will tell you that they are aware of it..and will submit a "unsual and uncommon" complaint to their tech support. Goes no where, actually. The 322 sounds like a GREAT system...but I need recording capablities.

Cheers
