Looking for overview of install of the VIP211. Here is over view of project. HD TV in Basement currently on 6000 w/ OTA to allow HD
of local channels.
2nd TV 1st floor with old receiver we traded in for the vip211.
Pair of Coax cable running from both locations to antenna location on the roof.
Dish installed new dish 1000 replacing my dish 500 on roof.
What switch should I use???
Dish tech unable to detect signal so left , this was 2 weeks ago
Please advise on proper configuration. Prefer new reciever (VIP211)
on basement HD TV and move the 6000 upstairs.

Thanks

get a better tech. it should have switch built in. what sats are getting now? and what order they are in?when you go to check switch menu

do you have any splitters some where? that you know off. by antenna you mean dish or off air antenna?. and is it just one box having problems or all of them?

I have traced the coax up to the roof, i have a pair of black coax to one tv the othe pair is white in color. no splitters or switches in line. one white and one of the black go into the arm of the dish 1000. What is inside I do not know. The other 2 coax runs are connected ot the regular TV antenna .
Thanks guys for your help. I remember I used to have 2 switch 21 up there ???? but
they have been removed by the last tech. This statement may not be accurate because the last time I was on the roof helping setup my Dish was years ago

i would say there is more serious problem then we think. call dish up and have them come out again. a think there is something wrong with your weiring. have you checked for voltage at the dish? when you do check switch does it goes to 1 off 3, 1 off 4, or 1 of 38?

vip211 check swich runs 1 of 50 after completing all 50 test results are switch detected none

Like stated before this system was woking with a dish 500 on the roof same sets of coax and the 6000 reciever and a older none hd reciever. it wasn't until we upgraded to the dish 1000 that everything completely quit working
Thanks for your time

one of the things you have super dish selected on 211 thats why it goes to 50 change it to dish 500. if it goes to 50 there is no communication between receiver and dish. check all ends trace cable put you tong on cable ends to check voltage it is only 13 - 18 volts it wont hurt (much :D )

we are working with the vip211 and on the roof is a dish 1000. i swiched to dish 500 and the check switch was 1 of 1 and 1 of 38

there is a problem some where in you're cable. call dish have them come back, there will be no charge to you because the system is warrantied for 90 days and have them find the problem

changed to dish 500 and check switch ran 1 of 1 and 1 of 38 results were
Installation Summary
POrt 1

device
Status Reception Verified
Switch None

Where should I see the switch for this system Is it inside the dish arm ??? or is one not required Sorry if this is a dumb question

the switch is build in to the LNB ( the thing thats on the dish) so you don't need additional switches. if the guy knew what he was doing with doesn't sounds like
