Whats better?

An HD set with 800:1 contrast ratio or 600:1? Is it a case of less is best? Thanx

800:1 is the better of the two.

The contrast ratio tells you the number of discrete steps from full dark to full bright. Sometimes a lower number results in a "washed-out" picture or objects in dark areas being very difficult to see. Here's some more info for you:
