I noticed that some of the WB,UPN and other channels are now on 129.

It seems that 129 will be one dish solution.

Does anyboday know when they will start the switch?

Will E* have to pay to switch all of those customers with the wing dishes or will new only customer get the Dish 1000, while they continue to broadcast those channels on 61.5 for current customers?

I was just wondering the same thing, they are moving some split locals to 129. Will they install the Dish 1000 to existing customers? Probably not. They probably do it for new customers only leaving the 2 dishes setup to the existing customers.

That means they will mirror the split locals to 129 and 61.5 or 148. In my opinion that's a waste of bandwith but oh well only E* knows what they are going to do.

Which finally validates me for never asking for 148 for the rest of my locals. Hopefully when i ask in a few months, i get the Dish 1000

Meh, I'll just repoint my 148 dish to 129 if I ever need to. The D1000 is neat, but I like my twin 500s :) Gonna miss having mickey mouse's head on my roof haha.

Only ones I can see them swapping are the superdish customers from the last near 2 years, swapping everyone over that has 61.5, 105, 121, and 148 would probably bankrupt the company.

61.5 and 148 will always be around for the northeast and west coast/alaska/hawaii.
For the rest of us in the lower 48, we will likely see voom on 129, DMA's with split locals move to 129. What will happen to the rest of the superdish customers that have all their locals and programming on superdish no one knows for sure.

A good guess might be that Dish will move all the locals off the 105 satellite since they dont own that satellite they lease it. 121 looks like it will stay for international channels, since it is visable to most of the US, and there are already some international channels available only on 121. No one knows for sure if they will move the locals off 121, but it looks like they have started, Erie PA, Wausa WI, Wichata falls TX/Lawton OK are all on 129 right now (those DMA's have their locals on 121).

Dunno. But it'll make it pretty interesting for people who get Voom/international programming off of their must carry dish if E* has to take those out.

Will MPEG 4 render current recievers ...

Best setup for 942 + Tivo?
