My telephone provider has started a new IPTV service utilizing "IP Prime" and carry "BBC World"," CSPAN 3", and the horror channel "Chiller". Amazingly, Dish Network subcribers can not even pay extra to get "BBC World", this is first class world news (the best TV News in the World) and should be available, as should all three "CSPAN" channels including "CSPAN 3" for those who need or want to follow politics closely. The "Chiller" channel would also be nice for old TV shows like Night Gallery" and Vincent Price or Boris Karloff classics. There may be some reasons Dish thinks it should not carry these channels but I don't think they would be good ones. A lot of people, more than they they think, for sure, would be very happy if they did and not consider going elsewhere.

Well that is why people have choices. Don't like what the provider is carrying or not carrying, then go to a provider that is carrying everything you want.

FWIW, I was initially excited about C-SPAN3, but honestly, it is mostly stuff from the archives, and when there is a live event on 3, it is usually also on C-SPAN Radio, and everything is available online too at CSPAN.org.

However - I would certainly support DISH carrying BBC World. If you do have an E* dish pointed at 61.5, you can subscribe to EuroNews for $1.99 a month a la carte. Honestly I find it strange they offer EuroNews but not BBC-W. Perhaps EuroNews is cheaper though, and the fact that it comes in multiple languages makes it a good add-on to increase channel count in various foreign language packages.

DISH is behind the curve on news content. We should have BBC World, CNN-International, Deutsche Welle in English, Radio France International's English TV news feed, and CBC at the very least. We need reliable, accurate in depth news. :hungry:

Many of us feel the same way about dish not adding Fox Business Network. Join our club.

There is enough NEWS channels on Dish now. They cover everything that you need to know.
Add channels that offer different content.

You see, some of us need to have in depth, analytical, objective news. Not just non-critical banter among beltway talking heads. Good news coverage is absent from what we have now. :(

Like this guy, you have an opinion. Who's to say there is enough news? Unless they carry EVERY news channel available to US cable and satellite providers, they do not have enough. They do not carry Fox Business or or BBC World, so no, they do not carry enough. While you may consider BBC World junk, this guy considers it a treasure. I consider Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network treasures. Not everybody feels the same way. The point is, we should have all these channels available on Dish.

Remember how mad the community was (especially over at DBSTalk) when CNNfn went off the air, because CNNfn carried CNNi in the evenings and on the weekends. There still is nothing airing on the old CNNfn channel, and it really is too bad, as CNNi was a different perspective than CNN-USA, and in the overnight hours had a live-newsdesk as opposed to the big 3 (CNN, FoxNews and MSNBC) who air repeats.

With that said, I can see both sides of the debate. Those who do not watch the news dont care if CNNi, Fox Business News or C-Span 3, which I also think Dish should carry, wouldn't want Dish to add such stations, where as those people like myself who do like to watch the news, would want all of these news stations, including BBC-World, to be added.

C-SPAN 3 is free to all and will not be HD for a long while so it should be added NOW! If need be dump one of the outrageous public service channels that are on now.

If Fox Business News carried SKY News at night or at the weekend I would be all for it. :D

The paid programming after hours and on weekends kind of stinks. They should showcase some of the Fox News Channel programming highlights from the week or replay the national Fox broadcast channel shows. They could replay the Fox primetime when they go off the air at midnight and then run Sky until 5 or 6 when they business stuff goes on the air. I am sure they have something in mind other than paid programming until 6PM on Saturday and Sunday. Even CNBC plays Conan O'Brien in the off hours.

I would say yes to BBC world, except that with BBC America, 4 PBS affilates, and the MHz (internationa) channels, there seems to be a lot of BBC World news on the air here.

I'm 100% agree. If Dish is going to add more NEWS channels in order to raise my service bill, the answer is NO. We got already so many NEWS channels(Locals, national, international plus spanish news). In additional, we got NEWS thru the internet. We need to add channels that offer different content period!.

Judging by your post, you should be watching some educational programming.
