Will there be any channel showing the "yule log" loop on E*?

Folks, I wouldn't expect ANYTHING new until CES.

Charlie likes to do his big unveilings there. Now that the Christmas shopping window is just about closed, there is NO "compelling" reason to waste that bullet now. He'd rather wait until a couple dozen members of the technology press are waiting on his every word.....

by that time, D* should only have another 25 HD (well sd upconverted) channels and E* will announce a huge 3 hd channel update and try to spin it off as we are still the HD leader in quality of hardware. Because by that time the number of hours will be in D* favor and they will have no more cards left to play. other then saying they have like 100 channels HD with locals and RSN and Nationals. I am sticking with E* because of contract and also because I can get my locals in HD OTA, plus it is a big hassel to get permision from a landlord. I also really like the 722, this thing blows away the Charter moxi box.

EchoStar's Dish Network to Add MOJO?
The channel is listed on EchoStar's web site
By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (December 19, 2007) -- EchoStar's Dish Network could be close to adding MOJO, the high-def network owned by a cable TV consortium.

At the web site for Dish magazine, the programming guide for Dish Network, MOJO is listed as one of the Dish channels that will offer "holiday programming" this month.

When you click on MOJO HD at the site, three programs are listed, starting with MOJO's annual "Yule Log" broadcast which begins at 7 a.m. ET on Christmas day.

Francie Bauer, an EchoStar spokeswoman, this morning said the magazine listing is a "misprint." However, she refused to comment further when asked if the company was denying that it would add MOJO by January 1.

A MOJO spokeswoman had yet to respond to our inquiry this morning.

Swanni is such a WHORE. He really pisses me off. NOTHING he prints is his own. He steals from everyone else and then prints it up like it's a news release and NEVER gives credit. I guess that's what the internet has come to (or been for awhile now).

But wont that be a little late for the Yule Log loop on Mojo?

Hey Bob,

I would be careful using the word compelling with High definition programming, I think Charlie has a copyright on that phrase and might want to sue you since he is being sued by everyone else in the industry.

Yaz,

I agree 100% about Swanni. He does; however, use satelliteguys as his source (like when usa and scifi were uplinked), but he does claim to be the all knowing one although he gets nearly everything from this site.

That was my point...... that nothing ever seems to be compelling enough to him..... until it is.

Remember, this guy was a high stakes poker player..... Never signal what your hole cards are until it fits your needs is his mantra...

As to the topic of the thread the yule log will be on WPIX starting at 9:00 AM EST (of course) It starts on KWGN at 7:00AM EST and also on WSFL same time as KWGN.

Also WPIX will have a special about the log at 4:00AM est and of course this is all on 12/25/07. These are SD listings.

Are these locals? What channel numbers?

I have AT100+HD. Do I get any of them?

You can pick any of the superstation channels up a la carte for $1.50 a month or $5.99 for all of them in most areas of the country. They are all in the 230 channel range.

See ya
Tony

WeatherHD was just on the DISHHD commerical on ESPNHD Celtics-Pistons

WeatherHD was also on the Dish Network cups given out at NASCAR events.

I'm pretty sure that Charlies' comment (paraphrased) "We only want to add HD channels that have significant HD content" applies to WeatherHD.

WeatherHD was supposed to be 24 hours HD by now, but they had delays in getting their HD studio up and running.

People may laugh, but I think that it will be one of the more compelling channels when it really launches in 24/7 HD, and I'm totally sure it will be on E* when that happens. (Imagine seeing one of those on-location reporters getting swept away in a hurricane - in HD ! )

I also happen to know that E* are actually talking right now with channels about carrying their HD simulcasts. Evidently, it is not quite as simple as "We want to carry your HD channel." "Cool, call our engineering department to arrange an uplink."

I am guessing that some channels are taking advantage of the necessity to arrange for the feed, to require E* to do the next contract negotiation now (i.e. E* can continue at the old price, but only if they don't get the new, i.e. HD. feeds), and if E* wants the new HD feeds, then they need to renegotiate to 2008 prices.

That's only a guess, but it could explain what is going on.

D* is notorious for just agreeing to whatever price, and then passing it on to the consumer (or in some cases, to the stockholders).

IIRC it used to be 'compelling' HD content was the criteria that Charlie said they would use.

Weather Channel hd is ahead of schedule with its studio. When it was first announced back during the spring , Weather Channel did say that it would take over a year to build the new studio. They were looking at late spring or early summer. Now if I am not mistaken. It will be finished sometime in February. I do agree that it will be watched. It is on my hd wish list.

they Have room for more HD channels, if you read digiblurs posts I believe he has said close to 10 Hd channels could be added (according to his calcualtions and if they want to fill up 100%

Just to clarify this again, they have 10 HD channels space clearly visible on the transponders that are currently being used for HD.

Several transponders on 129 have 3 HD channels, and so each of those have space for 3 more channels.

In fact, one of those transponders has 3 new HD channels with disguised names - probably due to this Forum.

What I am not sure about, is the space available on 61.5 - it's more complicated, since it is used for a lot more locals, as well as Sky Angel.

But Sky Angel is going away very soon, and there has been a LOT of reshuffling on 61.5 recently, so it may just be that they are waiting for Sky Angel to go away, so that there is mirroring of all HD channels on both 129 and 61.5, before they add the new ones.

You could be right that they are waiting for SKY ANgel to vacate the transponders . WHen is that going to happen anyway? I had heard the end of the year.
