(sorry if this is a repeat post...not sure if my previous posted correctly)

I'm new to FTA and totally clueless. I live in CA and i'm trying to watch a local sports network in ND. Here's what they say...

...available throughout the North American continent via Free-To-Air satellite (Galaxy 26 at 93W 12031 V 4880)

I just purchased a Viewsat Ultra system but the menu doesn't include Galaxy 26. Did I buy the wrong thing? Anything else I should know?

Please help!!

Where is your info from?

The Satellite lists that come on a receiver are almost never up to date, and the Sats changes names all the time. Look for a Sat that is at the same location, 93 west.

EDIT: no longer there, I've looked quickly but didn't find where it's at durrently
Probably should start a post asking " Where is FSSN "

They havent been on G26 for a year....they are on G11/G17 this year (91W)

what system did you get? dish size, lnb type, motor? etc...need some more info
(side note ya kinda got in late in the game as only next weeks playoffs are on the FSSN) ;)

Ice, I pm the OP , to tell him how to add the TP (but he didnt really need to) and learned he just bought a system yest and somebody sold him an Ultra and a DTV World dish..

Fighting Sioux Sports Network

I'm still trying to figure everything out as I purchased my system yesterday.

Can someone please confirm where FSSN is being aired currently? The Sioux hockey game is on now.

And where can I find information as to where to point my dish? I could not find location information for Galaxy 17.

Thanks

go to thelist at the top and put in your zip code or city/state

it will give the info for 91W

Still Lost...

Guys,

Here's what I was sold...

36" DIRECTV® Multi-Satellite Dish Antenna for 95°W/101°W
LNB w/feed for 95° & LNBF for 101°
Viewsat Ultra receiver
NO MOTOR

Again, I'm just trying to get the following:

FSSN
Galaxy 17 Digital – 91.0° W
**K24 Slot F - 9 MHz
**Ku Band - Downlink Frequency: 12187 V

**L Band - Downlink Frequency: 1437 V
**Symbol Rate 4.88
**FEC 3/4
**PMT 480
**Video 481
**Audio 484 (Primary L&R)

**Not sure what these items mean or how they apply to what I'm doing

Due to my inability to capture a signal trying multiple satellites (including 91WEST) I'm thinking I should take it all back (although they said I could not return the dish). I've been at it for 4 days now and I'm ready to throw it all off my balcony. LOL

Do you guys think its the equipment itself I need to exchange or am I missing something?

Thanks

Do you have a Pic of the Dish?
I do not think you can use it for FTA.

It's no longer there, it no longer exists.
EDIT: I didn't see anything listed for FSSN on either The List or Lyngsat.
As Iceberg said, it is active during games

what are you talking about? The FSSN does exist and is on 91W during games ;)

The World dish will work but is on the small side for FTA but the FSSN is so strong it will work fine

are there any numbers on the LNB for 95W? The one in the middle

What I'm worried about is the LNB is one polarity and may not work

but I'll start this post in case the LNB will work

The info for San Fran is the following
elevation of dish....35
azimuth (where in the sky to point)...120 (180 is dead south)
skew on dish....34

--on the back of the dish there should be some numbers that go from 0-180 (or close to it)...skew the dish 34 to the LEFT...so turn the dish counterclockwise so as you are behind the dish looking over the dish the left LNB should be LOWER
--set elevation to 35
--put dish on plumb (level on all sides) mast
--hook the cable from the LNB in the middle (95W KU LNB) to the sat in on the receiver
--turn on receiver and hit menu
--find a satellite called "Galaxy 11"..that is the old name of the satellite

Now each receiver is different so hopefully someone can chime in on how to add the following transponder to the transponder selection
12050 frequency
V polarity
13354 symbol rate

That is up 24/7 and will allow you to find the signal

LNB Frequency should be STANDARD and 10750

Once you get that logged in, aim the dish near 120 on a compass (180 is dead south, 135 is SE)...when you get in the ballpark of 120 go VERY SLOWLY and its quality you want to see on the screen. Signal strength doesn't mean anything.

Quality is what you need (and patience...this isnt like aiming a DirecTV dish)

This is great information and you've helped to fill in a couple missing pieces. Below is a pic of exactly what I have. I have the cable plugged into the LNB on the left only. Let me know if this is wrong.

I was able to find the Sat at 91W and have about 24% quality. Moving the dish very slightly any direction only reduces to the quality. I'm hoping to try for the game on Friday and see what happens.

I was recently talking to someone who purchased this same dish to get 97W. My contention is that the LNBF for 101W is a Circular LNBF and the one for 95W is a Linear LNBF, so the dish has to be aligned so that the 95W LNBF is aimed for the satellite desired. That would be the Eagle Aspen LNBF in the picture.

In Stharish's situation, that satellite would be 91W G11 to get FSSN?

Another note, when you blind scan for channels, make sure you check each channel that is found. You may be looking for FSSN but it may have scanned in under a different, generic name (like Service 'N' or TV 'X' TP 11.825 V).

My brother was recently telling me about FSSN, so its up there somewhere for sure. If I happen to talk to him soon, I will ask him about this channel.

Yes i'm connected to the Eagle Aspen. Do you think I should purchase a different one? Is that why I'm only getting about 24% quality nomatter how I position the dish? What else could be the cause? I hear FSSN is a strong signal so I'll wait until Friday when it goes live to see how the quality looks.

Thanks
