NFL 2009-10 Season

I hope he selects DA, but I'd be willing to bet he doesn't.

DA can certainly stretch the field, but he seems to make a lot of bone head decisions (ie. too many turnovers and not reading blitzes quick enough). Quinn is a safer pick IMO. He has shown the ability to efficiently orchestrate the offense with emphasis on managing the clock. Plus, I just think Quinn has all of the "intangibles" and "it factor" that a QB needs in this league. BQ's a natural a leader. He won't get discouraged by criticism either, which is crucial in Cleveland. DA on the other hand, well, it was well evidenced how he handled pressure and criticism when the going got tough last year....

Regardless of who Cleveland starts at QB, I am going with the Browns as my upset special in week 1.

I think Favre may be in for a rude awakening.

Cable shows us again ("nothing happened") that we can't believe what he says. Said that he's spoken to Seymor and that he's told him he wants to play for Oakland, and that he's not in California yet because he's still working out issues with the Patriots.

The Patriots have said they aren't working anything out, and have nothing pending with him.

He is report from the Boston area that states that THERE IS something holding this up.

According to a league source, the hangup appears to be a financial one with the Patriots.

Patriots spokesman Stacey James said last night he was “not aware of any issues” between Seymour and the team that would prevent the defensive lineman from heading out west and reporting to the Raiders.

Richard Seymour not quite a Raider yet - BostonHerald.com

So MAYBE the Pats are sort of not telling the truth here.

Herald report vaguely cites financial issues between Seymour and Patriots | ProFootballTalk.com

Seymour and Parker are trying to engineer a money-for-nothing severance package in exchange for Seymour's agreement to not throw a huge wrench into the gears by refusing to show up for work with the Raiders

This has nothing to do with the Pats, Seymour does not want to play in Oakland.

When has he show these attributes? In college? He hasn't really shown anything in the NFL. I know you're not alone in thinking these things, though....I just don't really get where it comes from.

I think people forget how young Anderson is. In his first full year as a starter he threw 29 TDs and went to the Pro Bowl. He followed it up with a disastrous season, but I'll give him a mulligan because the team was in such disarray.

I just am not ready to give up on DA yet....especially for somebody like Quinn who is completely unproven.

Listen, I unlike most in here....I know the issues MY TEAM has. If I knew I was going from a possible Super Bowl contenderand a class organization like New England to a team that has stunk up the joint for the last 6 years...I would NOT wanna go myself. BUT, if is true that he is pouting like a little 6 year old girl that was denied an ice cream...then the hell with his lack of professional a$$! He shouldn't be mad at the Raiders....ATLEAST the Raiders want him.

This his HIS ploy of trying to get a long term deal out of the Raiders.

I agree it is either that or he wants a guarantee that they will not franchise him. I can understand the raiders not wanting to do that because they would be giving up a first round pick for a player who could possibly only be there one year.

The Raiders desperately need someone in the middle of the defensive line to because they have neglected to address the position for a LONG time. He is wanted and needed....he is pissed he went from the penthouse to the outhouse.

You make a good point. In the end, I'll support whatever decision is made. More than anything, I just want to win. Whoever gives us the better shot at that is my guy.

OK...and how do you know he didn't? I have not heard Seymour denied it. So, more than likely, he DID speak to him...and WANTS to be a Raider IF he gets a long term deal.

...it's ALL a ploy by Seymour.

He told Rodney Harrison the opposite story, is why, and your coach hasn't had a great recent track record for reputable statements.

Harrison: Seymour's "not thrilled" with deal to Raiders | ProFootballTalk.com

I'd be surprised to hear he's trying to get a deal out of the Raiders, Al Davis has been working on closing the holes in his pocketbook since handing out some of these crazy deals lately. He scaled back his own birthday party 'because of the economy' but really it's because the Raiders aren't making a ton of money right now as Davis discreetly sells off chunks of the franchise.

Also, the Boston Herald story is just reporting what Cable said... aside from 'a league source' ... or are you just a 'unnamed sources are the debil' guy when they don't serve your argument :p

Jason La Canfora, of NFL.com, reports Oakland Raiders DL Richard Seymour will likely not report to the team without a long-term contract extension in place.

'wants to be a Raider' = 'wants to make sure he's going to get paid for the final years as a pro, even if he's playing for a sinking ship'

Though that ship's been sitting on the bottom for a while now.

Your honor....I rest me case.;)

What he said was nothing uncommon when a player goes from a great franchise to a crappy one. There is nothing new or usual about his comments.

When Seymour comes out and said something to the extent of 'I said no such comment/s to Raiders/Cable' ....I will then say Cable was lying. He has NO REASON to lie to the media...he will gain NOTHING by it.

He's been playing for less for a great team, guy is going to want Haynesworth money to play for the Raiders... 2 years older, 3 more pro bowls, 3 more championship rings and veteran leadership, he might even be worth it!
