So Tired of Dish Networks games ......

Haha and the tables have turned...

Seriously, people who are happy with their service generally don't join forums to tell the world. You are definitely going to see more complainers than happy people. StonesCat said it best.

However, there are some that apparently have a personal vendetta against DISH, and you will find that most of the complaining on this forum are by those select few. Those who try to imply that their little peanut-gallery opinions being posted daily are going to change the world. Then, when a few of the new complainers come on, suddenly the world is ending for DISH, and those aforementioned people with the vendetta like to point out this "fact."

It's sort of amusing, makes me think they're not really as happy with their current provider as they imply, seeing as they still care about DISH so much. If whatever new service they had was so great, they would move on and forget DISH ever existed.

All that being said, being placed on hold for an unreasonable amount of time to cancel a service is terrible, but this kind of stuff happens in all companies. At least DISH has announced they are trying to work on their customer service.

Now in my experience, when I canceled DISH back in Oct. '09, I had absolutely no issues canceling, and I swear the CSR on the other line was going to cry about it, but she had no problem promptly doing what I requested. After 7 months of AT&T U-verse, I was missing DISH like hell. I switched back to DISH, got great promotions, got one of the best DVRs around (722k, two of them,) all for a LOT less than U-verse. Even when promotional pricing expires, it will be cheaper than U-verse was. Yes, I was disgruntled at the receiver fees, but as long as it's cheaper than my alternatives, what can I do, can't complain.

Long story short: Upset people are more vocal. Sure you will see problems with the service, on the forum, but for every upset person being vocal, there is a satisfied person not vocalizing their satisfaction. Otherwise, DISH Network would be out of business, and not the #2 DBS provider.

Yeah

Where have I complained about Dish in this thread... Thank you very much! There is a reason why Whatchel1 is the only person on my ignore list. It's the pot calling the kettle black!

Dang since I have been promoted to ignore by you I can put that in my signature right next to banned by d BS talks. I feel honored and I guess you will have to read this when someone replies to it. :D:eureka I wonder how many have you on their ignore list? :haha U are so funny. BTW we weren't just talking about this 1 thread Gb99. No capital W in whatchel1.

I'm in the business and i find that some people just like to bitch about everything. They are usually tight asses to begin with. They expect something for nothing. after they get they are still not satisfied.
Before DISH came along people were paying $500 for a single dtv receiver system. Dish introduced real competition into the market place. Thank you DISH Network!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dang whatchel 1 your getting a hell of a resume.;):D

Just like myself I'm not HD but SD so if I needed another 625 it would be $17 right?
Well my America's Everything Package went down by almost $3.,then I would be charged $10. for 2 extra DVRs at that other place(which we all know). Then it would be $3. for MRV and I'm not including the charge for SWM and DECA ($150) so after taxes I break even(not even going to add upfront fees) he shoots! he scores! with DISH!.;):)

So all you fan boys think its OK to drag out the process, and avoid the fact that I'm trying to deactivate service as well as get a final balance to end my service?
And charge me $15 to return equipment thats not mine anyway?

OK so they jerked me around for a week, so thats another 7 days of service I'm getting charged that I shouldn't be because of these Charlie Ergen BS games.

Not everyone can sit on the phone every night of the week to be put on HOLD for 20 + minutes just to deactivate Dish Network accounts.

So lets hear a legit excuse for this reasoning.

That is just inexcusable and there is no reasoning/rationale to justify it. I don't see why one has to be directed to another department if you're cancelling service. Frontier did this to me at the beginning of June when I got rid of my useless landline phone service although my wait was probably only about 5 minutes (it seemed like 30 as I had other stuff to do).

I think people understand that, but when 4 or 5 people post a dozen times every day about it, and then go "Wow, look at the tsunami of anger!" it gets a little ridiculous. If everyone who was happy just came here and posted "Still happy with Dish today!" would you think "Man, Dish has really got it together now"?

You have expressed my sentiments exactly. I am for the most part pleased with Dish Network, however I don't like the fee increases my bill has went up about $15 for basically no reason and I don't like them removing channels when they get in disputes with programmers. However, I stay with them and put up with it because I like their equipment and they offer more HD channels that I watch than DirecTV does.

And there is 100% nothing wrong with this.:)

The games I'm talking about in this thread are my getting pulled over the rocks just to cancel.

Not you bobvick, but as you can see many other folks in this thread, keep going around the fact of my complaint and making up other excuses.

Dish Network has got me enraged right now, They had 1 months notice that I was disconnecting service, "way more notice then they ever gave me for anything"

Anyway I call today, and finally got someone on the phone after several attepments the past week from the loyalty department placing me on hold the minute they knew I was canceling my service and make me wait over 20 minutes and then not ever come back to the phone, to tell me final balance and where to ship my 722, because I'd rather pay UPS then give Dish Network money for a shipping label.

So they asked again why am I leaving, now I've already told them why like 4 times. So I told them again.
Well I don't like paying $17 for addtional DVRs, I don't like Channel drops and I don't like Multiple Price increases several times a year. I don't Like that I pay $6 per month on the protection plan and still have to pay $15 for a service call, I don't like that I pay for HD service, But still had to pay $15 extra dollars to switch to eastern Arc just to get all of them.
I don't like that I have to pay to ship back recievers that aren't even mine.

I DON'T LIKE BEING PUT ON HOLD FOR 20 PLUS MINUTES SEVERAL TIMES JUST TO GET AN ADDRESS AND FINAL BALANCE.

Games that all this was to them.

So my service has been disconnected, and now my 722 will be shipped today.

Loyalty department is a Joke.
I see any addtional charge, BBB is where I'm taking it too.;)

Good luck to anyone who wants to cancel service with a commitment.

Well Hemi 6.1 looks like you threw them a curve ball, asking for an address to send your 722 and wanting your balance due right then and there.
Give you an example when I cancelled Dishnetwork in March 2006 I was on paperless and autopay.I told them they made a counter offer, plus asked me why? I said thanks, but no thanks and that was it 2 minutes top.I knew they would get around to figuring out my balance and take it out of my credit card plus send me the boxes I needed and they did.:)
The same thing happened with DirecTV in October 2009 again everything was taken care of by DirecTV.:)

You didn't hear laughter in the background on the phone when you were waiting did you?just kidding.I don't know I never had that problem before, but it sure makes a good"Damn you Dishnetwork post".

I believe I would have hungup after 10 minutes and tried CSR Roulette.

I believe I would have hungup after 10 minutes and tried CSR Roulette.
20 minutes happend 4 times last week, and yes I hung up with no results. So I got up this morning and called the at 7:00 am, and got a csr, and they told me the same thing, "We have to transfer you to the loyalty department"

This time I said well if someone doesn't pick up right away, I'm hanging up and my Next call will be to WNEP Channel 16 News.

about 25-30 seconds later , results.

I leave for work 6 days a week, 5:30am and get back around 6:30 pm If I'm not at my office I'm at the job sites.

The last thing I should have to do when I get home is mess around playing games with E* Loyalty department, when its time to spend time with my family.

And I've cancelled D* service before and never went through this, They also gave me incentives to stay, E* didn't.

But that doesn't matter because my mind was made up. But a offer would have been nice to hear.

I wouldn't worry about it. It will be many years before the net infrastructure will support a significant fraction of TV viewers, especially for HD.

Internet 2 is already been activated and been running for awhile. You just can't use it yet. But it will support the next generation's needs and more...

Also, I canceled my Dish* last month and they did transfer me, but only for a superv to try and talk me into staying... took 10 min... and I did not hook up with Dir*. I own my own equipment and no 2 yr contract.

E REQUIRED I read them the roo number and card number off my receiver to cancel account, and I had a credit balance and am now waiting for a 80 buck refund......

When I have a few minutes I go around cutting all my E cabiling......:):)

This is a one way move, I will NOT be going back!

Heck loyalty could offer me FREE AEP for a year and I would still tell them to shove it where the sun dont shine.

Stockholders should be alarmed but current E policies their stock value is headed down

Thanx

Ahhh the Vocal Minority. They're an amazing bunch aren't they?

I've had one major problem with DISH: The mysterious VOD charge. I got them to eliminate one, but I still have one more on the account. I'm hopeful I'll be able to eliminate that.

But getting back to DISH, when it comes to price they are basically the only game in town. Local cable is too expensive and DirecTV is too expensive. The Top 120 plan is just enough.

$34.99 (with HD Free and Locals OTA) + $6 for the DVR (the amazing 722k w/OTA tuner which was a free upgrade -- not leased -- through DISH n' Up) = $40.99/month. No one can touch that price. All things considered, it's a pretty nice deal.
