from twitter Happy to announce we just finalized an agreement with the YES Network to continue carrying the Yankees games!

you should hear people on the albany times union website. Comlaining basically blaiming DirecTV all the way.

Now, Im from the NY area, albany, where Time Warner dominates the tv competition.

But have DirecTV myself, am a Yankee fan, but in no way would I switch. It just shows you people jump to conclusions.

Last info I have is they have not reached an agreement and DirecTV will keep YES up until YES pulls the signal. DirecTV will not pull the signal.

Sent from my iPad using The SatelliteGuys app!

Scott they were almost dead on to an agreement last week and not as far as you were told. Infact, a deal was completed a few days ago, other than ironing out a few housekeeping details. I have to applaud directv for getting a deal done where if this would have been dish, the deal would have never been done.

Which is leads us to our next lesson Stonecold is usually right on these things. DTV was never going to drop yes after dish dropped SNY.

And Hemi!.

With you guys can't tell me Dish dropping NY Sports didn't influence D* into working out their deal with YES.

You bet it did, even Stone agrees.

I mentioned all along that a deal would get done, figured if YES was gonna play childish games they would pull the signal, I didn't EXPECT that to happen, in this case, an agreement was best for everyone involved.

Hemi,
I DOUBT that DISH dropping ANYTHING had ANYTHING to do with this agreement at all.

People like to make a doom and gloom WAY too often.
Gotta let things play out and see what happens.

I dont think they would have dropped it no matter what E* did with SNY.

my HR24 told me a few weeks ago, actually whispered in my ear that D* wasn't going to let this happen.

Did Direct TV end up paying more than the cable providers? Same amount? A bit more? Lot more? Just curious....

We'll probably never know, the channel and providers are usually pretty tight lipped about that (probably in their contract).

A friend of mine who works for YES tells me that YES and DIRECTV are in a good of a relationship as ever.

I think they are both happy.. but the important folks who are happy are the DIRECTV customers who love their YES.
