Trade Starz for MAX and HBO

Just wanted to let those who only had the Offer to trade Starz for Cinemax only (due to having free HBO already like I did)...that my free HBO for three months ended a few days ago. I had not traded Starz for Cinemax only which was the only offer I had. However, I checked it today and had an offer to exchange Starz for HBO and Cinemax now that my 3 month free of HBO just ended, so I made the change.

FYI, you have until 10/31 to make the change, and it can be set not to continue in the "My offers" section after you add it.

Trading Starz for HBO/Cinemax combo is a good exchange in my opinion.

I would never change starz for cinemax or starz for hbo and cinemax.i enjoy starz much better than hbo and cinemax and cant wait for spartacus to start in january.I enjoy starz much more than skinema:mad:cinemax) hbo and even showtime.starz has better original series than the others imo :)

Perhaps it's because I have had Starz through Dish and also through Netflix but I've watched everything they had that even slightly interested me and never tuned to the channel at all for quite some time now. Plus Netflix losing Starz wasn't a big deal at all to me as I virtually never streamed anything from them. Of course, everyone's viewing tastes differ...which is why I added the "in my opinion" part...just as you did. Different strokes make the world go 'round. :D

Should've done it early. Waited til the last minute and we ended up losing power on the 29th due to the snowstorm in the NorthEast. Wasn't really on my mind while we dealt with no power or water. Still powerless now, supposedly "everybody" will be back online by tomorrow night. I'm afraid that might mean the same thing as "soon".

Oh well, there are a few things on Starz I watch anyway.

If the offer is available, it would show online at your dish.com account. Also, there are account specific details that determine whether or not you would qualify for the swap. If it is not available at your dish.com account, I'd be happy to double check if you PM your phone number or account number.

Somehow when I called about my broke 722, I lost my Starz and got it replaced with the HBO/Cinemax 3 month deal. Strange, I didn't say to do that or anything, it just happened. But I guess its ok because its 2 channels fro the next 3 months instead of 1. But I thought it was odd, I call to get my 722 replaced and my offer got replaced too.

I don't know about anyone else, but I've got a channel 349, with the name of OFFER. Basically, it says "hope you're enjoying Starz" and to call Dish "for an exlusive offer to experience other premium move channels at no additional cost." When I called, they said the "offer" was to swap out the last 3 months of the Starz promotion for HBO/Cinemax.

This is referencing the Starz swap for other premium channels. There are accounts that were not available for this promotion but DISH Network has made it available on additional accounts now. Everyone interested should double check for the option on your online account or PM DIRT and we will look into it for you!

I got an email two days ago offering the swap for Hbo/Cinemax for my Free Starz pack. I called to get it and the csr said I wasn't eligible. So I wrote an email to the dish care specialist about the confusion, and received my response yesterday. It said that He apologized for the csrs not being trained properly and to call a special number to talk to an account specialist to get my upgrade. I called the number and once again the csr said I wasn't eligible. I expressed my anger about the confusion and was transferred to a specialist who also told me I wasn't eligible. This time I quoted the email response and the name of the csr and Id number on the email and she then said hold on and I waited for several minutes. She came back and said check on your account and see if the offer is there. I said sure and checked it wasn't. She then made me wait several more minutes and then she said you have it on your account and to call back before 2/2/12 to drop it or I would be charged. So I said thanks but I don't see why I have to jump through all these hoops, phone calls and emails to get something that DISH sent me offering me a trade in for.

I don't think that DISH realizes how this angers most subs, who then tell anyone they know that DISH isn't fair in their promotions and who gets them. Luckily I've been with DISH for 15 years come January , so I know if you want something you have to work for it . I think it is stupid that I have to do it ,but anything worth having is worth fighting for. In this case Hbo /Cinemax Free for 3 months is $16.00 + $13.00= $29.00 x 3 =$87.00 of programming I got for FREE in place of the Free Starz pack of movies I've seen before. Starz is very repetitive in it's movies, and I actually watch a lot of Hbo series tv and shows. Good trade .

Interesting thing is that I did the swap and then 6 days later, got a call from DISH asking if I was interested in doing the swap. I told the CSR I already did it online, she said thanks and then hung up the phone. Sounded a little fishy but no harm, no foul.

Checked my account online again this morning, and the trade-in offer had reappeared. There's a new date that it must be accepted by - November 30th, 2011. I decided to make good on the second chance and accepted the offer. Afterwards went into "My Offers" and changed both to "Do Not Continue" after the end date (Feb 3rd, 2012). And my power was restored last night. Things are looking up!:D

To all those who swapped: Just remember that the onus is on you to cancel to avoid being charged once the free period is over. With the Starz promo, it will just go away with no intervention required...

Which is easy to do as soon as you accept the offer. HBO and Cinemax will show up in the "My Offers" page. Switch the drop down to "Do Not Continue" and then hit "Submit". You need to do this for both HBO & Cinemax offers (if you're getting both).

So I checked, and the offer re-appeared for me also.

However it says my Starz is scheduled to end Jan 31 2012, and that I have until Nov 30 2011 to swap for 3 months of HBO & Cinemax.

So would it not be better to wait until the end of the month, so that I end up with HBO & Cinemax until the end of February (thus, 1 extra month with a premium channel than I would have if I stayed with Starz)?

Just saying...

Yeah, that was my thinking before. Then the pre Halloween snowstorm from hell hit and I thought I missed the trade completely. Not waiting around this time. :D

You are here why didn't you just ask a DIRT member?

Not seeing the promotion

Is this promotion not available for everyone? I currently have the Starz promotion and am an HBO subscriber. When I log in to my account, the offer does not appear anywhere.

Dishnetwork.com down?
