Any use for Sling Adapter without Dish service?

I am no longer a Dish customer, but I wondered if there are any other practical uses for my Sling Adapter. I got it with the rebate, so I'm not really worried about just throwing it in the trash. But I thought I'd ask the experts here if there is anything useful I can do with it now that my 722 is gone.

Thanks!

You can sell it. If you were a pub member on this site, you could post it for sale in our classifieds. Certainly, we're your audience for making a sale.

Don't think so.

Per the site:

"Free Sling Adapter requirements: broadband Internet connection on 722/722k receiver; subscription to DISH Network E-Newsletter; online redemption no later than 75 days from Sling Adapter activation. Allow 6 - 8 weeks for delivery of prepaid card. Limit one redemption per DISH Network account.
Welcome Pack not eligible for offers."

There is no requirement to send it to Dish. You own it free and clear. Sell it before the price drops as stated before. I know they were going for about $89 on eBay.

The Sling Adapter is designed to work specifically with the ViP722/722k model receivers. I am sorry to hear that we are no longer your service provider. The Sling Adapter can be sold to another DISH customer. If you have any other questions feel free to send me a PM. Thanks!

Will the Sling Adapter that works on the 722k work on the Hopper too? I want to get one for our 722k but want to make sure it works when we upgrade too.

As other have said, new Sling units will be dropping to $30 soon. You might be able to sell it for over $30 to an unsuspecting user who doesn't know about the upcoming price change. If selling it (and shipping it) for under $30 isn't worth the effort to you, you could just hold on to it in the off-chance you ever come back to E*, where it would still be useful with the new hopper/joey system.

Thanks, everyone for the input and advice. I decided to go ahead and eBay the adapter. Right now they are still selling for $50-$60 there.

Here's the funny thing - when I went to the online accessory store on Dish.com yesterday, they had already lowered the price to $30. It's back up to $99 now, but it looks like they are getting ready to pull the trigger on that price drop right away.
