Kijiji, eBay, and Craigslist dishes for you to take a look at

This San Diego BUD looks new!
California weather is good, but can't take all the credit for that. ;)
I'm gonna guess this is an all-aluminum cutie.
If it's the size you want, and close to home, go take a look. :up :)

edit:
Took a closer look at the picture.
Pretty sure it comes apart in 4 pie-slices.
Very pickup-truck-friendly. ;)

But gas kills the deal for me.. Its gonna cost about $120 round trip plus cost of that dish

Pro - I don't think we know the size for sure, so maybe it wasn't meant to be.
Well, if 8', not a good fit for you.
At 10', it might be worth thinking about.
And if it's 12', I'll race you down there! ;)

For anyone else within striking distance, give a call, get more facts, and do a drive-by! :up

The posting has been taken down.
I guess you convinced him. :)

As I recall, the pictures were of poor quality, so I didn't save 'em.
I was busy looking at the (hopefully H-H) mount and ignored the dish ;)

edit: oh, Toucan Man posted the pix!
That IS a deep dish!

We eagerly await your info and better pictures.
(even if you have to shoot in the dark) !
Then, maybe one of the members who used to install BUDs can identify it for you. :up

I think you'll be waiting for a million years until WE are all pumped out of the ground as gasoline into intelligent dinosaurs new cars, before gas will be $1.00 a gallon again. lol

What are the odds that the dish I absolutely want is literally across the country from me.
When I first decided to go C band, I wanted a Birdview spun aluminum, on an H-H mount.
Based on their sightings, I was sure none ever made it to the west coast.
Then, after a few years, one or two did show up 100-200 miles away, but slipped through my fingers.
One day on the way home, I took a different street and noticed the telltale sign of one peeking over a fence.
Was only a 15 mile drive to bring it home!

You'll find one.
One member found his dream dish a block away.
Dont give up! :up ;)

After your post, I had a long chat with Phlatwound.
He had an idea about making 'em work.
After an hour of brainstorming, I came to the same conclusion as him.
If his test is successful in a few weeks, he might be able to shed some light on this largly forgotten piece of history.

BTW, it's all steel unlike the aluminum 8.5' round model, so that is likely rust you see in the picture.
With no scrap value, the guy should still have it.
But if the H-H motor is there, I'd still recommend about $100, max.

The ad said motor drive. That one is too far away for me, but if I find one nearby I will try and snag it

We must assume that these were installed in such a way that they could track the arc, mustn't we? Let's see if you and Phlatwound have come up with the solution.

...We must assume that these were installed in such a way that they could track the arc, mustn't we?...

That is one of the main reasons I keep burning brain cells and effort on the Spoon...no matter what (they did do some things that were a little odd or not easily understood) I refuse to believe that BV made something that didn't work.

Just haven't figured it out yet...or maybe we have. ;)
