I will dump DISH as soon as the contract runs out simply because the screensaver is totally unneeded and very irritating.
There is no way to work around the defect.
I think they do not understand I leave my TV on ALL the time when I'm gone from home as a security feature.

When I think about it, I can see no reason for any special screensaver, since any moving picture will save the screen, which BTW, we have not that TV tube anymore.

WHY can they not program it out?

I can understand a system check even once per day, but why can it not return to a channel, SOME channel?
I have it disabled - dosn't stop it.

Each new unit, even the HOPPA, has this feature.

BTW, I could not get my HOPPA to work, so I changed it right away. They don't go room to room - not without a wire. They are NOT wireless.

The Blockbuster feature is silly, I can do that without DISH, but in my I have not a high speed net, and if I did I wouldn't need DISH.
Anyone ever evaluate the REAL requirements?

Please - turn off the screensaver.

Regards

Just set an auto tune timer with a time such as 01:45 (after the nightly update time) to kill the screensaver.

That is the weirdest reason I've ever seen to dump dish. No they are going to drop the screen saver just because you don't like it. Do the auto timer so that when you aren't home it changes channels ever 4 hrs and it will keep it from going to the screensaver.

I honestly have never noticed a fish on my screen saver.

What kind is yours? Catfish? Carp? Goldfish?

Can I get a black bass?

That would be awesome!

Dang, yours has a fish screensaver? I'm jelly

Leave a radio on it uses less power and makes the pets and plants happy.

I like the screensaver as it keeps the Lifetime logo from burning into my screen when my wife falls asleep watching tv at night. :)

I do however think there should be a toggle to turn it off or set the delay time.

Just change TV input to OTA or disc set to loop.

Folks, we may have had a drive-by.

Let's think about this. Registered 2008. First post now. Someone find a disused account?

Just a bit of negative Dish stuff to be Googled by others on the Internet?

First: Leaving your tv on all day is not exactly a security system.
Second: Why do you leave it on all night too? If timeout is disabled, it only turns off after update. Start the system in the morning, leave it on, problem solved.
Third: I agree that it's probably just spam, so I say, "Cry me a river, pay cancellation fee, or just suck it up."

More like hit and run!

First, that's a pretty weak reason to go through the hassle of canceling your service and going to something else, IMO.

Second, what is your monthly electric bill??? Leaving your TV and receiver on all the time like that must really drive up your bill.

1. Fish screensaver? Fishy? You've been given good advice.

2. Who said the Hopper was wireless? You say you couldn't get it to work? Did Dish install it? Was it working when they left? What did you do to mess it up? Some people here have posted that they have found ways to make the unit work wirelessly, but that is not an advertised feature, and not a supported feature.

You seem to be a customer that is looking for reasons to complain.
