For us two Hopper owners, while I like what it can do now, adding extra tuners would be a nice touch, but then again, two Hoppers solves many of those issues

I would like to see apps as well.

The thought of WatchESPN, Netflix, and Hulu would be amazing.

Additionally being able to stream content from your phone or tablet similar to appletv and google chromecast would be a nice bonus.

It would be great if it were standard agnostic home control allowing you to interface with Zigbee, Zwave, X-10 or some of these other smart home standards. But seeing as it's dish, I'd say they'll come up with their own proprietary solution that will cost you you a mere $150 extra a month on your Dish bill. With all the features you want not available at launch but coming sooooooon. Through a special interface port on the back that will be full of dust 5 years later.

Well look outside of the home box here a moment. The best thing they could do is fix it so you have a LNB with built in nodes so you only need a single cable running from the dish to the hopper. This would not only save from installation costs but time for the installer AND a big plus for customers who don't like having a bunch of cables running down the side of their homes. As it is now you have 2 hoppers you will need THREE yes count them 3 lines running from the dish to a node then splitting off from that.

As for the Hopper functions it would be nice to increase tuners for sure and integrate a online browser perhaps partner with Firefox so you can use it on the TV to browse the internet.

Now I have to wait until Jan before I pull the trigger. I can wait another month to see what's new. A new Hopper would be worh the wait, if It has something useful for me, such as a PTAT for more than the big 4, or some type of integrated output to a Roku or Chromecast. A 4th tuner would be even better!

At the least, offical wireless support. Possibly more channels available to record at same time off one tuner, not necessarily autohop.

And this was already reported;

While new additions are always welcomed, I think the real deal is for DISH to make it at least sound so interesting that people on the fence, or who did not consider DISH now look into it. As I posted before, it isn't that the HOPPER is sooo much better than the DIRECT whole home set-up, but right now the HOPPER is the sexy one to get. Adding some of the things mentioned adds to that.

I think they can monitor the most popular channels viewed by their customers or by consumers as a whole by tv ratings and put those on the same transponder. Perhaps they can add tuners for more capabilities such as this. Maybe it has something to do with their wireless venture with NTelos and internet/phone/security built into this. Maybe it's to have a Joey at a different location kinda like Sling.

No but I do wish I could watch my security cameras on the Hopper... At the moment I have the DVR run to a 24 inch TV on the side of the big TV so I can keep an eye on things. :)
You could do that up to the 942 then DISH decided to no longer support NTSC ota tuners.

They are going to announce a new super power partnership with ABC/E$PN/DI$NEY that will make AutoHop even more powerful and expand its capabilities and also bring ESPN-U in HD. All the ESPN channels will be recordable using one transponder like PTAT. This will bring the house down.

Ugg...its sad that they are waiting till Jan to say anything when I'm thinking of upgrading my setup to two hoppers around end of December. I would hope for all software related for upgrades but for some reason I sense a different hardware release. Pretty much great for customers a damn nightmare for installers.

I would be in ecstacy if I could record 4 channels at the same time from 72.7 transponder 2 using one tuner. ;) :D

I did go and look to see what that is.....then looked for one of Eurosports avatars......:bounce

Yeah...I started to upgrade to the HWS several times...first decided to wait over the ESPN situation...then when that looked like that was safe from a disaster I pondered it again...right up till that lovely "update" came out couple weeks ago...and now news of Hopper3 (or "Super Hopper", or whatever we decide to call it in the meantime :haha). Looks like I'll wait till January to make the call now.

An advanced video on demand primetime anytime service available when you connect your Hopper to a broadband connection. Dish records all the channels contents and you have access to them anytime. Dish figures out a way around getting into trouble for doing so.
