NCAA Football 2014 season

The Targeting rule in the College game and maybe the NFL as well needs to be addressed ...
Its getting ridiculous ...

Do they not take "Intent" into the penalty ?

Do they not look at these plays and see that the follow thru of the play has to count for something ?

There is a difference between TARGETING with Intent to harm and following thru with the play at game speed.

Another rule that needs to be addressed at the end of the season is the "helmet coming off " when your removed from the field because of it.

During the play if your helmet comes off, you come out regardless ... if your helmet is ripped off you shouldn't have to come out, probably should be a penalty the other way if they see it.

This is NOT what the rule was intended to do ...
The Rule was to keep players from "Showboating" when a play was made when the player removes his helmet, NOT if you lose your hat during play incidentally.

I had some complaints about their stupid graphics during the college world series covering up the strike zone, got a reply about it the next morning

The games that were shown after that one had the bottom graphic, the better one and I got a reply in about 30minutes from sending it in so either I wasn't the only one that complained or it was a one time deal.

If I recall if the helmet is pulled off you don't have to come out...I don't remember that being changed, most players just come off anyway cause if its pulled off the equipment on it needs to be fixed or adjusted to prevent the issue again. As for targeting at least it is reviewed now so you have several sets of eyes looking at it rather than just a bang bang play decision from the refs.

Your still getting the calls that the players hit with a shoulder and gets a Targeting call, even after they look at it.

The bowling green player both lunged and used the helmet, that was obvious in slo mo. It was a good ejection.

Hell, he waited on the QB to start to slide then dove at him.

Hit him with the shoulder pads, ,should not be the guys responsibility to hit a guy with the pads and be able to STOP in mid play before also running into the helmet, IF that happened ....
He did not leave his feet that I know of.
Also, how much of the play that the officials look at (I'm talking all the plays now) do they notice that the Offensive guy lowers his head as well, the offensive guy isn't penalized if he lowers his head and the defender then makes contact with him.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are not teaching the O guys to lower your head, thus drawing a penalty.

It would be nice if the Defense was allowed to be on the field during a play, they are not allowed to hit a guy low, or high, then when they get a guy in the chest, they get him for DRIVING him to get ground ... isn't that the idea, hit the guy hard, take him down to the ground, it's not called TACKLE football for nothing.

Then again, I get really tired of the LACK of TACKLING .... this just HIT the guy and knock him down is sad.

Well, Urban really knows how to pick them ...
He chose Tom Herman to run the Offense at Ohio State, he was there for 3 years, and is moving on to Head Coach at Houston after the Bowl games ... Wish you well Coach Herman.

Then last year Urban hired Chris Ash to fix the Defense, mainly the Pass Defense, he came in and did a nice job, buckeyes go from 117 to 17th in the nation or something close to that.

Now theres talk that Colorado State is in talks with Ash and another for the HC job there.

I am really hoping that Ash sticks around, we just got him, don't want to start over... again.

Part of being a good coach is surrounding yourself with good people. You have to expect them to get offers every year, especially if the team does well. Sucks though, especially if you get one you like and they leave.

Bowden said any good coach keeps a black book in his desk at all times with a list of coordinator candidates, just in case.

Speaking of targeting, State of Play on HBO had a good hour on this. It is amazing the crew the NFL has monitoring all games in room. Taking notes on players who can't get with the rule and you'll will see crackdowns. I don't disagree with that. You can properly tackle people without knocking yourself or them out. There is also no need for crazy hits on a defenseless player and lowering your head with lunging helmet to helmet hits.

I see it as driver's license points and speeding. As you continue to break the rule, you will get fined, at some point you will sit for a game, or more.

Bucs player #38, Goldson, repeatedly does it and finally got suspended. At some point you have to say stop being a dumbass. It has already started in lower levels and teaching players the new way to hit.

In 2006 when Meyer was at Florida, Charlie Strong was the DC, Dan Mullen the OC and Steve Adazzio was the Oline coach. Doc Holiday who is the head coach at Marshall was also on the staff.

For all the well deserved criticism Urban gets for quitting on the program, he was always smart enough to surround himself with good assistants, which is what good head coaches should do.

Yup, good coaches should always surround themselves with quality coaches ...

Update, It looks like Colorado State will Not be hiring Chris Ash from the Buckeyes :clapping.
They actually have about 10 guys they are looking at, latest rumor I saw was it was going to go to Georgia OC Mike Bobo.

Rapist walks. Winston refuses to answer. But apparently crying sounds during rape are consent according to this thug. I guess taht was his final slap in the face of his victim
A girl who's story changed several times, and was found by the police to not be credible, fails to ruin someone's career with no evidence whatsoever.

And why would he answer? There's still a little thing called the 5th amendment.

And don't forget the woman asking for $7 million to make her go away. hmm...extortion?
