Nothing that the access card team can do. If you read your emails you would see that you will get more info later on this week on how to activate. :)

Keep in mind Loose Lips Sinks Ships... I don't know about you but I really like my job, and Directv is a great place to work. Don't think for one moment that they cant track you down via these forums. You would be surprised at who visits here and the other site for that matter. Not only that, I work with some amazing people whom have become life long friends with, and posting stupid stuff that can get you fired here or anywhere outside of Directv is not worth it.

Why doesn't directv just make the genie standard for all new installs?

Their goal is to have everyone with a Genie.

So why not install everyone with an HD/DVR give everyone a 3 month free trial and if the customer doesn't want a DVR then turn off the DVR functionality of the receiver.

They do this right now for bulk MDU accounts.

There are a few reasons for this, some of which I cannot mention (speculative). However, the main two logical reasons that I've always been provided is: Cost of equipment and customer satisfaction. Genies are expensive and not everyone wants one, therefore it only makes sense that you can get one by request if you meet credit requirements.

They are already doing that. Assuming that you qualify (credit check) every new install with two or more rooms, get a Genie and one client. A one room install with DVR gets a dual tuner DVR. Of course, if the customer don't have DVR service, they can get all HD boxes.

So a new install if it's only one room can't get a Genie ?

yep, similar, the access card slot is more like the H44 or H25 though, according to some of the FCC documentation, it only has 5 tuners..... :-(

Never in the past actually read through it, that is disappointing.

Hmmm, we all go from 2 tuners for the longest time to now 5 and everyone is happy, now 5 isn't enough ?
Let me know when we get to 10 tuners, there's probably not 10 shows I watch, let alone being ON at the Same time.

Well remember DIRECTV will be using transponder bonding for the live 4K channels meaning it will use two tuners to be able to watch one live 4K Channel. For that reason it would be good to have more tuners.
