11/10/15 undecided on this seasons shows. Each week we are being fed past history on one of the team members and leaving the NCIS show on the fringes. This is not what built the show into the successful show that it is.

I think the show has run out of material to write about and they are filling it with character development . Now the characters lives are more front in center and the murder mystery of the week is in the background.

With no character development, you would have a very boring show with little to no cohesion.

This show shows that they all truly care about one another and work well together.

I'm starting to wonder if when Mark Harmon's contract is up that he don't call it quits on the show .... more than likely continuing to produce instead.

Anyone know how long his contract goes for, didn't most of them resign at the same time not too long ago ?

Considering the show is in it's 13th season on tv, I would think that it could go at any time. I often wonder how many of the navy/marine personnel really end up dead in real life. In this show and the sequels , it seems they are turning up dead left and right every week. Also in real life the chance of the same people working together in the same place for 13 years is really hard to believe. I mean there are promotions, transfers, marriages and babies that prevent that from happening. But heavy character development to me is a sign that they really running out of new ideas for the case of the week. It might be time to put a fork in this one.

Maybe I´m from another generation, but many years ago when I watched Streets of San Francisco, Columbo, Barnaby Jones, Charlie´s Angels, and on and on, there was no character development at all, or at least that´s what I recall.

Watching those shows one would know very little about the character´s background and personal life.

Maybe that´s why I still prefer the old shows and I find it very difficult to become a true fan of contemporary shows.

Those shows were also before the INTERNET.
