Getting ready to install my Hopper 3 system and thought I would post this. I found it interesting that it works fine.

I have a 1000.2 dish and wing dish to a 722 and ota diplexed in as well as the tv2 backfeed. Hybrid lnb came so I swapped it on the dish for the heck of it. I didn't touch anything else or remove the diplexors or DPP seperator.

Here is the old lnb

Here is the hybrid

As you can see check switch passed and everything has been working perfectly. Seems like the hybrid lnb will work for almost everything...

Did you try both outputs or just one ?

I'm not surprised at all that it works.

What I wonder - and this is pure conjecture - can the 722 reliably, long term and safely, power the Hybrid LNB. The hybrid is doing the same triple stacking work as the node (but should be more efficient). It's entirely possible there is enough intelligence in the thing not to triple stack if not connected to an H1/HWS.

I only connected one output for one receiver of course. I can easily change the output and try it. I don't know if I'm using port one right now or not. I will find out this afternoon.

All my timers recorded fine and it's been 24 hours on this configuration with no issues.

Found out I was using port 2. Swapped lines to port 1 and ran check switch. Working just as before with no issues to report yet. All my timers have recorded fine.

Even my ota which is diplexed in the same line has worked fine.

I thought the issues only come when you throw a Hopper 3 in the mix.
My understanding is the Hybrid LNB will work with Dish pro equipment, up until you put a Hopper 3 on the same LNB.

When a 211 or Wally is connected I thought it stayed in DPP mode, when a Hopper 3 is connected it switches to DPH mode.

So naturally a 722 would work just fine.
No one mentioned it because you can't have a 722 on a Hopper account anyway.

But 211s you can, and as of now there is no solution to have a 211 on a Hopper 3 account at the same location , unless it has its own dish.

So it's not really news that the Hybrid works both Pro and Hybrid equipment.
It just doesn't do it at the same time.

I had heard some on here say it would work for the vip series. I was just curious and thought I would post the info for others to see. I'm just waiting for my hopper 3 from fedex.

Wouldn't it be in DPH mode with a Wally?
No a Wally still won't work with a Hopper 3.
A Wally according to many sources is still a 211 with the new UI.
You must still wait for that new switch that doesn't exist yet if you want to add a Wally to the H3 system.

But the misconception in this thread is the Hybrid is only for H3, and that is not the case at all.

The H3 ONLY works with the Hybrid LNB.

H1,and H2 are DPP technology
They are also able to use the new Hybrid LNB .

The current 211s can also use it, up until a H3 is installed.

I knew it would work for early hopper systems but heard mixed things on the VIP series. Clearly it does work.

Yes the Hybrid is exactly as stated it a dual technology system.
DPP/DPH.
It just can't do both at the same time.

I've posted pictures. The Wally is NOT a ViP211 series. It performs a similar function and is intended to work with the H3. Late this year.

And as you state, the upcoming LNB is expected to work as DPP or DPH, not both simultaneously.

That's why they are working on a new Multiswitch.
Because people want to be able to have 2 H3s and also have an option to have 211s or Wallys hooked up at home.

The 211 Z looks different then the 211k, it's still a 211.
The Wally is simply a 211 with a new face lift and new UI.

You are taking those words too literally.
What words?
It's a Solo tuner HD receiver.
You have 16 tuners in a Hopper3.
What sence would it make to add a Solo receiver to work with the Hopper?
Who would really demand that other then a few Satellite Guys members?

7 Room setup with 16 tuners is by far enough to support 99.9% of Households.

I think you just want it to work with the Hopper, but unfortunately you will be let down when it actually became available.
I don't see a point in a Solo receiver that uses anything from a Hopper. There isn't even a Multi switch even close to being released to do so.

The Wally is for Customers that don't want DVR, and it uses the same UI, which will help with trouble shooting instead of having multiple UIs.

The Wally will not work with the Hopper (any of them) it will however work with old LNB's as well as the new Hybrid LNB. When its hooked to a Hybrid LNB you can hook up to 16 Wally's to one Hopper which will be great for commercial installs. The Wally is its own stand along receiver.
