I thought all cable providers were supposed to have a minimal package (does not have to be advertized) for a very low price.

"Lifeline Basic" or "Broadcast Basic" were the terms that Time Warner Cable used to use for it.
That is a good point. With Welcome Pack now costing (for "new" subscribers) the same amount that Flex Pack cost (at the promo rate) when it was first introduced, maybe it is time that those sports Channel Pack add-ons (National Action Pack and Regional Action Pack) should be made available to Welcome Pack subscribers.
So how much of the increase to each package will be used to cover any short fall in the number of HBO/Cinemax subs, since…“AT&T is demanding DISH pay for a guaranteed number of subscribers, regardless of how many consumers actually want to subscribe to HBO.” ?
FWIW despite a very low bandwidth 4Mbs internet connection, we stream roughly 90% of our video/audio entertainment via Amazon Prime w/AcornTV and PBS. A $3/mo increase in the Welcome Pac will put our cost of sat TV within $5 of the $50/mo I'm willing to pay for a service that only provides the remaining 10% (primarily locals for news/weather).

Charter has Spectrum Basic for $24 + $10 with the stupid Broadcast TV fee for $34 total. It includes all local and local digital subchannels, the three C-SPANs, their own Spectrum News, QVC, HSN, Evine, Jewelry TV, Public/Community Access channels and all of the Music Choice channels. The profit margin must be insane on this. The shopping channels pay for coverage, Charter is part owner of Music Choice and the C-SPANs are free. A package like that should not cost over $30/month.

that would be great to do. with the locals included in the welcome pack they show us sports on local channels, they had ufc a couple of days on fox and other sports.
we should also be able to add sirius pack as well, and that woudl be cool too. because u can get sirius streaming online for new customers for cheap i went there to look

That reminds me, HSN HD is coming soon to Dish. (I will keep watching the uplink reports and update the Welcome Pack HD thread when it becomes available.) So, another shopping channel is paying more for carriage, and the price of Welcome Pack goes up?
I agree. Dish's Latino Bonus Pack includes SiriusXM (along with a whole bunch of other channels) for only $5 per month, but Dish will not let Welcome Pack subscribers get that package, either.

Yeah, I watched the Saints game on YouTube basic last night. They kept cutting off each feed as they found it, but another kept popping up. It was a PIA, but better than subscribing to ESPN for one game a year.
