Blu-ray now outselling HD-DVD by 3 to 1

I love those sites that track sales... especially the eproductwars comparisons (the 23.95 pirates blu-ray vs the 89.99 matrix set and batman begins (which has been out over a year) vs Hellboy (which is released tuesday). Also do any of these sites take CC and Best Buy sales into consideration (as I haven't purchased anything from Amazon to date and own over 100 combined discs)?
So now somebody that owns a HD-DVD and Blu-ray player is considered a troll? This is the war zone not the blu-ray forum.

With blu-ray just now hitting the $500 mark though and HD-DVD available on the web for around $250 and new in retail for $300 wouldn't HD still have a slight advantage? (Although that said a majority are still waiting for a clear winner before investing in anything which is why dvd's still outsell the hi-def by a large margin)
Especially if they're going to give you 5 free HD-DVD's. Even if the discs are all only 20 a pop, if you get the HD-D2, that's $250 and change for a player and 5 movies. Take another 100 off for the movies and it's like scoring a nice upconverting player that just happens to play HD DVD's.

As for a $500 or sub $500 BD player other than that PS3, I too don't consider pre-orders to be valid as anything could happen that could delay it. When it is shipping or instock then it's official, until then it's just paper, rumors, and industry speak.

This still does not make it official yet. Show me where I can purchase one and have it in my hands within a week. When that happens I will then think it is official.

Nice to see the Sony making their BD Player more affordable, but they still have another $300 to go before it is widely accepted. On a side note, the Engadget author must be sitting on top of his PS3 because mine are whisper quiet.
Nope, it still just press releases and industry info. I cannot buy or touch one so it is not a competitor yet. How many times did we see sony push back the PS3 just to manipulate the gaming market. I'm not saying it will happen, but they have a nice habit of announcing stuff they can't deliver on on the promised days. That's why with Sony (and many others) until I can lay down cash and take it home that day, I will not consider it to be a tangible product.
While I have a huge dislike of sony, I expect them to try to deliver this one as promised and most likely will due to the HD-DVD camps pressure lately.
Also what is up with the article complaining about the PS3 being the nosiest BD player out there? yeah, it's not whisper quiet, but geesh, that comment makes it sound like it's a huge distraction. I ove the first comment too, "Yeah, but can it run F@H"
Riff, I agree, my PS3 is very quiet and it is in an open a/v stand along with my other gear.

Woops...whats that sound....Its the sound of PS3 sales coming to a dead halt now the BD players can be had for less....Dbl edged sword for sony...
if you think that the Ps3 is selling only as a Blu-ray player you are wrong so can we please please please get off that idea, I hate when I see that, it really takes away from what the Ps3 is at its core and that is a very good gaming machine.
I know of at least 7 coworkers and 4 friends who bought a PS3 SOLEY for BD player. (now if I can only get them to join our F@H team...HMMM)
I know it's been asked, but is the BD-P1000 image problems still eveident or did the updates fix the issues? I have a couple HD-DVD friends who want to go dual format and cannot find the 20gig PS3 anymore so they were asking about the Samsung.
