Connect on HR23 to internet with ethernet cable

Thanks for all the replies. Ok ,so I have a cat 5 from the router(the box the cable company owns) to a 16 port switch. From the switch I have a cat 5 to my wireless router. All devices working off the wireless are fine. I have another cat5 from the 16 port switch to the receiver. the...

Connect on HR23 to internet with ethernet cable

Hi All. Been a while. I now have an internet connection. I do not have, nor want whole home. I just want to connect one HR23 600 to the internet via an ethernet cable. I tried, but get "Result Code 86-78" I did reset the modem. I did go to reset defaults and tried to connect again. I did do...

    OTA interference with Directv

I hate to dredge up old posts, but this one seems close to what I just experienced, thankfully not with a neighbor. I have a vizio tv that isn't connected to DTV, just an OTA antenna in the attic and when I have DTV running in the living room, I get a "scrambled" message on the vizio on digital...

Help Loosing satellite signal at night

I had that problem with a SD lnb once. If the temp got below freezing, no signal. When I went through troubleshooting with D* they were following a script, so, didn't actually listen to what I was telling them. They sent new receivers, which, of course, didn't solve the problem. Battled it...

Are signal boosters available for Direct TV?

Dishes aren't too expensive on ebay. I did that rather than run a wire from my house to the shop/garage. (<50' away)

Moving Fees for Hurricane Sandy Victim! Help

Don't know what to say, except I hate you're having this problem and wish the best for you. From what I have seen D* can be intransigent when it comes to issues like these. They pretty much toe the line. Good luck no matter what. Maybe someone who knows how to "work" the system can advise you.

    Trouble getting signal on Slimline

Once you find 101 most of the others will just fall in there with a slimline. You really need high 80s and 90s though, using the signal meter on the receiver. Anything less than 80s usually won't work. My son and I just used our cell phones to talk to each other, I tweaked, he watched to...

Upgrading H24 to Genie and keeping other recievers the same? (house/Mobile Home)

That's interesting. What if one is camping with an RV and has a house sitter? I don't have the situation personally, but when I retire, it is a possibility.

    Roof sealant

Thanks Gents, I just ordered some. I didn't know it was tape. I use much the same thing to seal new construction windows, but it has a vinyl side that can't be removed. It's around $18 for a 50ftx4" roll. It works really good for encapsulating a crawl space, too. The "Black Jack" roofing...

    Roof sealant

What is that stuff you installers use to seal the dish lag bolts? The only thing I've found similar is Black Jack sealant (Lowe's) but it's not exactly the same. That would be good stuff for general roof usage, not just for sat installs. Where can we get it?

    Activating new receivers online?

Hmmm, I don't know about buying from a dealer, but usually, if you buy from D*, they say you have to activate each receiver within 30 days or they could charge you 100 bucks or so for each one that isn't activated. I don't know why, but I did read that in the agreement. Good luck, hope it all...

    Activating new receivers online?

Yep, When I got the two HD receivers, they had post paid envelopes in the box to put the access cards in them to send back. Dunno, doesn't seem like a smart card would be worth sending back. I don't know if there are hackers out there that could do anything with them these days, or not, maybe...

    Activating new receivers online?

No, they were re-conditioned receivers. I've been a customer for quite a few years. I needed 3 DVRs total (already had one) and 2 HDs. So, I'll send the access cards back to them from my 2 SD10s and the HDs will replace those. When you dial in, they ask for the phone number which you can...
