Dish vs Comcast (not a Dish Network sucks thread; re: rain fade, etc)

you probably just have a crappy install, you shouldn't be having an issue with rain fade at all, the problem isn't always with the signal either, could be loose fittings, rg59 bad cabling, etc

Dish installers save a man's life

good for them! too bad they're not wearing the proper ppe, looks like a write up will be waiting for them! also is that an aluminum 40 ft ladder?

    Signal Strength, Lazy Installer?

Hmm, I can almost guarantee you it's a bad box, you can hook up component (the red blue green) see if it makes a difference, but like I said, most likely a bad receiver. Was the first tech a subcontractor? There was a red flag when he tried to bs you, you should have kicked him out on the spot.

    Black dishes

In Mexico they have red Dish network reflectors (standard color down there, I have yet to see a grey dish network reflector). Also they don't use the dpp twin lnb, they use a dp single...odd all together because I thought Dish Network was not allowed down there due to fcc or mexican fcc laws. I...

    Dish Question

the tech should have put up the 1000 plus dish, i'm assuming you have the old school super dish, just unplug your reciever call dish and say your system isn't working. make sure they create a trouble call (not service call, big difference). a new tech should come out and put up a 1000 plus at no...

    Connectivity!!

this should be merged to the installer zone, dish will soon ping accounts after 2 weeks so if you send status now but don't have anything connected, you will get dinged...also this will become grounds for termination, something they will take very seriously since they're looking for reasons to...

Is there no demand for the 811 anymore ?

yep i made a mistake of installing a 381 once (out of pure ignorance) never again...

Question about how long the hiring process takes.

If they already did a drug test and are running a background, I'd say you have the job. Dish takes a while, I know they are lacking trainers right now (hence why they want to fly you to another location). I will say from what I've heard they are running a training class right now so they're...

222 non-k rcvrs evidently are also not dead

    RG59/U Cable

You're wrong Jim, I too worked for a cable co. As I mentioned before, cable and sat are completely different systems, rg59 and rg6 make a huge difference in satellite, we don't use RF like cable. Sat uses low voltage to power the lnb, rg59 will burn out. I've been to tc's where the customer...

    RG59/U Cable

Yep, rule of thumb most subcontractors don't do good work (no matter who they work for, dish, directv, comcast etc). They're required to buy their own material and get paid per job so they will do the least amount of work as possible and use the least amount of material. I hate how dish uses...

    Mirror TV2

dish actually charges a one time rate of $50 per mirror, so if you want 2 tv's mirrored it'd cost you $100. you can do it yourself but putting a 3 way splitter behind either one of the diplexers. make a jumper going from uhf out to input in for the splitter and run your lines

    RG59/U Cable

technically the customer HAS to move all their furniture beforehand, we're not furniture movers. most of the time i will move customer's furniture, especially if it's an old lady. However, if they seem like a (you know what) I'm not touching crap and rescheduling the job because 9 out of 10...

    RG 6 and satellite signal

yep just get a tech to go out. you have have to cut the old fitting and put new ones on and barrel the line, you need to use a high frequency barrel otherwise you'll get problems again in the future
