IOS 8 Discussion

The family share is useful. Though I wish permission wasn't needed for when the kids want to get something that's free. That part is annoying.

Now that Apple lets kids under 13 have itune accounts as part of a familyshare, is there a way to change my 2 youngest kids to their actual ages (12 & 7)?

I was wondering the same thing any eleven year old is showing as an adult. I can't figure out how to change it.

All 3 of mine show as 15, even though they are 14, 12, and 7. My daughter was a few weeks shy of 13 when I setup their itunes account, so I just used 1999 when I created them all.

Wanted their phones/ipads to have indiviual ID's as I didn't want my phone filled with "barney" type stuff.

Really? Nothing about the bendy iPhone 6s? http://www.macrumors.com/2014/09/23/iphone-6-plus-bending-pockets/

If Apple could have made it so the screen folds over, they would really have something. Instead, it's
"BendGate" or my favorite, "BendGazi"... I would suggest to Apple that they start using Titanium or something stronger than the Aluminum alloy being used now.

Easy to miss it being posted because it's in the combined news thread Poke's been confined to.

Edit: oh, it's in the event thread too.

After upgrading all of our iOS devices to 8.0 and after switching to iPhone 6 I now have a strange issue: my iPad now rings whenever my phone rings! (I tried unswerving the call on the iPad, but i couldn't.) How do I prevent my iPad from ringing?

I checked the settings for both iMessage and FaceTime and both have my phone number unchecked. What else am I missing? Weird!

Mine does the same thing but mine works correctly. I really like that feature.

You have to go into the FaceTime app. It will work over speakerphone or you can plug headphones with a mic in. I'm also able to make outgoing calls from the iPad. Again you go into FaceTime and then audio calls. Your iPhone contacts should be available on the iPad.

To make this work both devices need to be on the same wifi network and logged into the same iCloud account.

Edit: hopefully they make this more obvious in the future. Swipe to answer from the lock screen like on the phone would make more sense.

Ok, I may have to play with it. But how do I disable this feature?
When I answer a call on my phone, the IPad continues to ring for a few more seconds. Rather annoying, especially when I am at work.

On your iPad go to settings/FaceTime. There is an option for "iPhone cellular calls". You can turn it off there.

Looks like people are having issues with Bluetooth and iOS8. I have seen it mentioned in several news articles today.

I've noticed that after upgrading to iOS 8, the Bluetooth in my vehicle goes in and out at times. It always connects when I start the truck but I would say that in a 15 minute drive it will disconnect and reconnect 3-5 times. Anyone else had this issue?

Solid for me. Even all the way through the Betas.

Mine is good too. I wonder if it's something with the new models that doesn't affect older ones. I have probably listened to at least 10 hours of bluetooth audio since upgrading my iPhone 5 to iOS 8 and I've had zero connection drops.
