PS4 Owners Thread

Golden Abyss was a prequel to the Uncharted 1-2-3 trilogy and includes important aspects of the development of his relationship with Sully. It was purely a $$ reason not to include it, not a "holistic" one. ( A lot more work would have been involve to port it.) Ironically, including Golden Abyss could have really driven sales from people who never got a chance to play GA on the Vita. I wouldn't be surprised if GA is released as a separate downloadable game in the next 12 months.
Well I think it was a combination of both. It was probably easier to ignore GA, but at the same time for the basic story you don't need to have played GA. I mean the original God of War collection omitted the PSP games, and while they did explain the story of Kratos a bit better, they were by no means required to get an understanding of the basic plot. Also there may have been some conversion issues because it was developed by a company other than Naughty Dog. Granted, the collection was handled by BluePoint, but I'm sure ND was heavily involved with this game and having to go through the other company as well may have led to more trouble than it was worth. I'm just looking forward to going through and finally beating 1 and then hopefully beating 3, which drove me to rage quit.

Looks like the embargo for The Nathan Drake Collection is over and reviews are trickling in. General consensus seems to be "Great package, but Drake's Fortune has aged about as well as a fish left out in the sun."

I didn't love Drake's Fortune the first time I played it on PS3. To be fair, I was a 360 guy and got my PS3 later in the generation when it was cheap so I could go back and play the big exclusives I missed. By the time I had a PS3 all 3 Uncharted games and both inFamous games had already been released. Drake's Fortune was pretty old by the time I played it and I had played a ton of more modern games that had the benefit of learning from what came before them by then.

That's the reason I originally planned to just play Uncharted 2 and 3 since I hear they are much better products and I've never played them. Part of me thinks that when I buy the package I should play all of it but at the same time I don't want Drake's Fortune to discourage me from finally playing 2 and 3. I have owned the trilogy since the day I bought my PS3 so I think that is part of what happened the first time.

I'll probably hold off on getting 4 until I get the collection and play the other 3. Kinda significantly decreased the chances I ever get 4, but that's OK. No shortage of things to play, just time.

PS+ Games for October announced.

Sony’s announced the PlayStation Plus lineup for October and it’s headlined by Broken Age (PS4/Vita) and Super Meat Boy (PS4/Vita). The other games include Unmechanical Extended (PS4/PS3), Kickbeat (Vita/PS3),Kung Fu Rabbit (Vita/PS3), Chariot (PS3).

Not much to write home about here. I mean I recommend Broken Age even with its crappy part 2, and if you haven't played Super Meat Boy yet then you may as well here.

Nothing for me on Xbox or Playstation this month.

I'm surprised Driveclub is leaving PS+, thought that was permanent-ish.

So I need to actually download DriveClub to my PS4 now, not just have it on my download list? I wonder if that means I can keep it even if my PS Plus membership expires (which it will next week).

Broken Age is nice, something I might have bought during a good sale. I believe the PS4/Vita versions include both Act 1 and 2. And Chariot interests me as well. I'm not sure about the others.

EDIT: Just checked out Unmechanical. It looks pretty cool, though I doubt I'll ever fire it up. It's like playing LittleBigPlanet if Sackboy had a jet pack on the entire time.

I highly doubt it will be removed from your download list as long as you "purchased" it while it was free. I think the idea is that it will no longer be available to "purchase" for free starting next month.

I still can't believe they didn't offer the full version to PS Plus members after making them wait so long for the free version. They got their launch day sales in several months before the free version was available so it wouldn't have cost them that much in terms of lost sales to offer the full version as an apology.

I've been playing the Forza series on Xbox One lately and I'm curious about racing games like Project Cars for the first time in my life. I've never even really considered giving my free version of Drive Club a try though since I know it's really just a demo for the paid version.

Not only that but the car list is insultingly small even in the full game when you compare it to just about any other racing game on the market.

Edit: I just did a google search to confirm what I was saying about how many cars are in the game.

The full version of Driveclub includes 50 cars without a single one made by Chevrolet, Ford, or Dodge. No Corvette, Camaro, Charger, or Mustang in a racing game seems a little off to me.

Forza Horizon 2 which I am currently playing advertised that there were over 200 cars included at launch. That isn't including all the cars in the season pass.

Forza Horizon 2 has kinda ruined all other car games for me, lol.

I guess I agree with that. I just got the car pass on sale for $14 yesterday and I really have no interest in even Forza 6 right now. I prefer the Forza Horizon series' more fun approach to the dry, sim racers like the main Forza line. I might pick Forza 6 up at some point if the price drops low enough but Horizon 2 is really all I need for my racing fix right now.

That's pretty much where I'm at. I beat the Horizon Festival and never fired the game back up though, go go gaming ADD.

It's even more surprising when you consider how much money they could've made in DLC sales. There is a TON of DLC for DriveClub. So instead of giving a full version and driving DLC sales (I can't tell you how many times I bought DLC for a free Plus game), they give us a meh version that a lot of people (like you and probably me) won't even bother checking out.

Looking at the DriveClub page in the PS Store, where it is listed as a Special Plus Edition, I wouldn't be surprised if this was in fact being completely pulled from the store and the wording in the PS Blog this morning was meant literally, and it would no longer be available to download, even if it's in your download list: Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition will no longer be available as a free download for Plus members starting on October 6th, 2015. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, be sure to go to PlayStation Store now before October 6th!

In other words, if it's not in the store, it simply can't be downloaded, as I know has happened in a few other instances where a game, DLC, or other content was completely removed from the PS store.

It looks like the free PS Plus DriveClub is definitely yours to keep once you download it. I was looking in my account to see when my Plus membership expired and noticed that DriveClub didn't have an expiration date like all the other free games do.

Destiny is popping up on some PS4s... if it happens to you, no, it's not likely that your PSN was compromised..

I'm not a fan of this feature. It doesn't look like the game is actually downloaded when this happens. It's just a link to the store page where you can get it. Basically they are advertising for games on their already cluttered cross media bar. I will be turning this off tonight. It's bad enough that you can't separate games from all the suggested apps they put there. Now they are putting games you don't actually own there too.
