Personal Computer Game News

Well just because GMG says they're a partner doesn't mean they are. GMG also says that Ubisoft is one of their retail partners, but GMG isn't listed on Ubisoft's list of approved vendors.

I'm a little worried because now I wonder what will come of my GMG refund of Arkham Knight. Before reading this I would welcome getting store credit in lieu of a monetary refund, but now I'm not so sure. I may try and push for a monetary refund more now.

Hopefully this will get resolved soon. A GMG spokesperson tried to respond in that same thread, but apparently the answers weren't to their satisfaction and the account was banned.

They have made some edits to the post in question. WB has responded to the these people after the person posting on Green Man Gaming's behalf asked them to do so. Apparently the person who originally responded to these Reddit posters from WB didn't actually know what they were talking about. WB has since emailed the mods to confirm that GMG is in fact an authorized retailer for WB games.

The post on Reddit also says that EA and some other publishers have confirmed that GMG is an authorized retailer even though they weren't listed on their authorized retailer page. In Star Wars Battlefront's case GMG was authorized to sell the game but they didn't purchase enough keys to cover all their pre-orders. This still isn't consumer friendly but it's significantly less shady than it originally looked.

There is also this exchange. GMG is insisting that they are an authorized retailer for the publishers in question and basically chalking it up to the first level of support at these companies giving out incorrect information. Hopefully this is all just a misunderstanding and we can go back to trusting GMG's sale prices.

Tier 1 support doesn't always know, that's basically all I can say.

You're trying to insert ambiguity without answering the question at hand: is GMG authorized?

Yes. I've got my trading team talking to these people now. The rep at WB should get back soon, but whichever does first, I'll post a redacted screenshot of what they say and then I'm done with fighting.

There is also this exchange between a mod and GMG. GMG is consistently claiming that they are legitimate and the mods are consistently telling them to prove it.

From my point of view GMG has been reasonable in their responses and these mods have been less than reasonable. This is what one of the mods responded with when GMG offered to post a screenshot proving their deal with WB. Since they are going around the mod and posting it for everyone to see it's not good enough proof?

Someone made a MOD for Fallout 4 that, rather than giving the vague dialog choices, will actually tell you the text of what will be said.

I was going to do a clean playthrough first and then mess around with mods later but this one sounds really useful. I have been a total dick with my responses a couple times without even meaning to because the choices are not always clear.

I'll look into installing it tonight and see if there are any downsides.

Edit: There is also this David Ortiz in full Boston Redsox gear mod and the MLB is not happy about it. I find it funny that they are upset over this when the youtube video for the mod shows him standing in the settlement built inside Fenway Park.

Yeah I'm shocked that they changed the dialog system the way they did. I understand streamlining, but it shouldn't be done to hurt the experience. In a game like this, dialog options can be crucial, and not knowing what exactly will be said is just insane. Imagine if Mass Effect did something like that.

Looks like Valve is changing how they do the Steam sales. We're not getting Flash & Daily sales. Instead the same sales will run for the entirety. Many suspect this is a direct result of the Steam Refund system.

It is also looking like the Steam Autumn sale will run from the 25th to December 1, and the Holiday Sale will be from December 22 to January 4.

This is actually good news if the quality of the pricing is the same as in previous years. Instead of having to check back every day to see if the game you want to buy has a better price you can just check on day one and ignore the rest of the sale.

I will say that I think this is going to cost them money. I'm much more likely to make several impulse buys over the course of a week on flash sales and daily deals totaling $120 than I am to add the exact same games to my cart at once for the exact same $120. The sticker shock is just bigger this way with one big checkout than it is when you make several small checkouts over a week.

I'm not looking to spend anywhere near that much money in these upcoming sales but I have in previous years when I was new to PC gaming and didn't have the kind of library I do now.

Well I guess we won't be needing this anymore..

I actually kind of liked the way the system was. I liked checking back multiple times a day to see if any better deals had come up. Still, if this is how it has to be, then so be it. I've already prepared for the sale(s) by adding $50 to my account.

I enjoyed the old system too. It was kind of exciting to check a few times a day when you knew the sales were changing to see what was next. This is better for the people who miss something though. If you were at work during a flash sale and couldn't check you had to just hope it was part of the last day encore sale before. Now you can just do it on your own schedule.

It does remove all excitement from the sale besides the first day but I suppose it's a more consumer friendly system.

It looks like someone figured out how to do remote play on a PS4 from a PC.

Honestly I don't see this lasting very long. First off I get the feeling that Sony can/will patch this out, and the fact that the guy is CHARGING for it is going to accelerate that (assuming they don't first send a C&D.)

They aren't going to let this continue because it's not theirs and someone else is profiting off it. I'm not really sure why they wouldn't set something like this up themselves though. They advertise remote play to smartphones but I'm not sure who would actually want to do that. A PC makes way more sense.

The Just Cause 3 system specs have been released. I initially wasn't paying that much attention to this game but I recently watched part of Giant Bomb's quick look and it seems pretty cool. It looks like a more outrageous version of Far Cry 3 and 4.

Actually it looks like Sony did the next best thing...

From the Steam Curators listings..

I have never paid attention to any of the curator pages but now I see what a terrible mistake that has been. Instead of paying attention to IGN and Kotaku I could have been following the more popular Waifu Hunter and found out where all the anime babes are.

Stunning mod project brings 4K textures and overhauled gameplay to Grand Theft Auto V

Man 4K stuff looks nice..

http://www.neowin.net/news/stunning...and-overhauled-gameplay-to-grand-theft-auto-v

Grand Theft Auto V looked pretty good when it debuted on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 two years ago, and the graphics were - as you would expect - even more impressive on the latest generation of consoles.

Since the game's debut on PC earlier this year, though, fans have been eager to push GTA V's graphics even further - and one mod appears to have succeeded in upgrading the look of the game in magnificent fashion.
