Better than losing the whole program. Am I right?

    Major DIRECTV Rumor Alerts

I was thinking. DirecTV has the ability to go back if you tune into a program late. If you lose the satellite signal the receiver could just go to that "go back" feed and download that to replace the broken satellite feed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    HR54 ethernet port

Never tried 5 GHz. I'll have to take a look at the spectrum usage in the 5 GHz range. I know that the 2.4 GHz range is beyond overcrowded in my neighborhood.

    HR54 ethernet port

When my installer installed my DirecTV system he initially set it up using WiFi. I later converted it over to use the Ethernet cable that I had waiting for it which I simply plugged into the back of my HR44. I honestly want as few devices on wireless as I can. There's so many wireless access...

    CSI: Cyber

Much like past episodes, this episode had a decent topic but was executed not as well as it should've been. The episode talked about a plane that had been taking over through the onboard entertainment system. Lately there has been talk that this kind of attack could be very real and that a...

HR44 Genie pulling two IP addresses from my router. Why?!?!

I decided to take a look at the bottom of my Genie Mini, sure enough it had a MAC Address listed on the sticker on the bottom of the device and yep... it matched the MAC address of this unknown device. Mystery solved.

HR44 Genie pulling two IP addresses from my router. Why?!?!

But I assumed that the Genie Mini Clients connected to the Internet through the main Genie box with the main Genie being a sort of translation device that makes the connection to the Internet on behalf of the Genie Mini clients. Basically, the Genie Mini clients have to go through the main Genie...

HR44 Genie pulling two IP addresses from my router. Why?!?!

I reset the network settings on the DirecTV Genie box and set it up to connect only via Ethernet and not wireless. My router is running TomatoUSB firmware and I can see every device on the network including what type of connection that it's on (Ethernet, Wireless 2.4 GHz, Wireless 5 GHz).

HR44 Genie pulling two IP addresses from my router. Why?!?!

The Genie is pulling TWO IP addresses from my router which hands out IP addresses in the 192.168.1.1/24 subnet (192.168.1.1-255, subnet mask 255.255.255.0).

HR44 Genie pulling two IP addresses from my router. Why?!?!

I thought the system used its own internal addressing scheme on the coax. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Coax adapter?

If it looks like this... Don't touch it. That's your LNB power inserter. You need that to power the dish's LNB. If it looks like this, then if you have an HR44 you don't need it. It basically just inserts Ethernet into the DirecTV COAX system. This is the DECA bridge. You can get rid of it if...

HR44 Genie pulling two IP addresses from my router. Why?!?!

For whatever reason my DirecTV HR44 is pulling two IP addresses from my home router. One of the IP addresses shows as the IP address that is displayed in the Settings menu and the other I have no idea what it is or why the receiver is pulling it. How do I know that it's pulling two IP...

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2015/12/15/cbs-renewcancel-standings-week-12-can-2-broke-girls-survive/ TV By The Numbers has declared that there's a VERY GOOD chance of this show being cancelled before May 2016. Hawaii Five-O and The Good Wife don't look too good either but both are doing...

    Major DIRECTV Rumor Alerts

And let's not forget that the DirecTV Genie has a Ethernet port on the back of the device. It would just be a matter of doing some software changes to the Genie and during setup you would configure it for either satellite input or IPTV input. Either way you'd still receive a DirecTV signal...

    Major DIRECTV Rumor Alerts

Besides... MediaRoom was sold off by Microsoft to Ericsson. Ever since that selloff MediaRoom has stagnated on the software side of things and hasn't evolved one bit. Meanwhile platforms such as Comcast X1 AND DirecTV's proprietary STB software has not just surpassed MediaRoom but has left...

OK, issue solved. I rebooted both the main Genie and the Genie Mini and the graphics on the Genie Mini show properly.
