    DISH Price Increase 1/17/2013 (UPDATED!)

The model has changed. I used to shrug off price increases from Dish because my only option was to reduce my viewing options or switch to another similar provider bound to likewise increase prices every year or two. After reviewing my options, I changed my package to the Welcome Pack. My wife...

    DISH Price Increase 1/17/2013 (UPDATED!)

I just noticed dish has removed Silver, Gold and Dish America as options programing options on their site. Cutting Dish America means the cheapest package with HD cable channels is now 49.99.

    Well there goes the neighborhood....

Just curious if there is good local programing for Duluth? Only have passed thru a few times heading up the north coast. In some ways that area reminds me of western WA (just not during the winter).

    ff to time markers

Too bad. I was hoping there might be a back door way to do it.

    ff to time markers

Is there a way to ff to a time marker or is the quickest way to advance just 300x and wait till it gets there?

    cabling for 722 versus 211

Bummer. Decided to go ahead with it anyway, before football starts.

    cabling for 722 versus 211

Okay. I guess I will need to have the installer come out. The objective is to get a 722 so if 2 TV's are required to order I can do that. I have the 211 connected to an external hard drive. Will I lose the programing on the drive or will the 722 retain it?

    cabling for 722 versus 211

Yes on 1000.2 ... So they should be able to just ship the replacement without an installer and the separator would just split the signal at the box. No need to run a second cable from the box?

    cabling for 722 versus 211

If I want to upgrade a 211 to a 722 would there be any additional cabling required beyond just adding a simple splitter if I were just replacing the old box with a new one on a single tv?

SatelliteGuys Review: Logitech Revue with GoogleTV – A Diamond in the Rough

Thanks. I currently have a Roku, and use Dish less than half the time and am hesitant about increasing monthly costs. My main reason for considering Google TV would be TV link to NFL game rewind.

Will Google TV work with a 211 connected to an external hard drive?

Just made switch from D to E

Install was yesterday and was a really simple one for the installer as all she had to do was swap out the dish and the connect the jacks into the new box. I am getting 110, 119 and 129. No picture breakup but the numbers are only between 50 and 60. I know dish's numbers look deceptively low but...

Just made switch from D to E

Had Dish for 10 years before switching to D in 2007. Just placed the call to E. Always preferred Dish equipment. I ordered a 211 and plan to hook it to an external hard drive. Hope that works as advertised. Feels good to be back. :)

Can you turn a VIP 211 into a DVR?

Do the interface and guide look and work the same as on a 612, 622 or 722?

2011 DirecTV Package Channel Lists - Including Family & Select

I went to Select about a month ago and have to say I am not missing much. I thought I would miss SyFy but they really don't have much on now. I've got all the Eureka and Stargate reruns anyone could possibly ask for on Netflix. And when Mad Men starts back up I can get watch it on Amazon. Added...

    Is Roku the Answer?

I recommend getting the Roku box and trying it out while you still have Bell. The set up costs are minimal. Livestation is a Roku channel and carries France 24 (3 channels: French, English and Arabic). The broadcast originates from Paris. Roku also carries Tunein (radio) and that gets live...

DIRECTV to Offer Local Channels in 190 Markets

Really hope Fargo HD gets into the mix soon. "Moving" to Minneapolis is fine as far as it goes. But this winter and following flooding has proven to me that local channels are a necessity here. I get the news I need OTA, so I'm fine. But if I had the choice I'd prefer the locals in HD from D.

Is there an easy way to sort or just remove all those infomercial type channels?

I wish there was a way to remove the annoying banners that D inserts into the guide with or without favorites lists.
  20. cebbigh

OK...it's Febuary and still no new channels HD or SD

TCMHD is the one channel I really want. AMCHD and BBCHD would also be welcome additions.

2011 DirecTV Package Channel Lists - Including Family & Select

Great list! Although the local regional sports channel isn't available on the sub choice channels you could add the sports pack and still come out ahead if you wanted. And if you are subscribed to ST you also get the NFL network. I'm seriously thinking of dropping down. Aside from sports and...

DirecTV offers basic packages to boost growth

By not offering AMCHD, TMCHD and BBCHD after the successful launch of D12, DIRECTV has clearly signalled their intent not to engage in a channel by channel competiton with other providers. Fortunately Netflix and Hulu and Amazon offer reasonable work-a-rounds. I might not have pursued those...

    Was D* 12 a disappointment?

I have not subscribed to hulu plus yet but the samples did not look that bad. As it is now, aside from sports, my family is using the Roku about 80% of the time versus Directv. We record anything we watch anyway so seldom see things the day it airs. If Directv adds TCM, AMC and BBC my...
