    Had charter installed today

One more vote for Charter w/Tivo and Mini's. Was a long time Dish customer but when they dumped SNY I switched to DTV. Was paying Charter for Internet $60+ and DTV $180+ and decided to F that and switch to Charter. Got the same channels and internet for around $140 a month. Thanks to members...

Charter probably has some really bright installers - and then there's this guy...

I just had Charter in to set up a new Tivo. He showed up with a cable card and Tuning adapter. FOUR AND A HALF hours later he left with nothing working. He was here from 5PM to 9:30, and spent most of that time on the phone with Tech Support. He finally left and they scheduled a return...

Might switch back to Charter, a few Q's

Checking back in, I bought a TiVo Roamio Pro. I decided to go for the bigger capacity box, and from what I read about the commercial skipping, it seems to only work with current network shows. Amazon had a new Pro for $448 so that sounded like a good deal. I also ordered a Mini and MoCA filter...

Might switch back to Charter, a few Q's

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate all of the responses. I think you've all made up my mind. So you think going with a Roamio would be a better situation than going with the newer Volt? I've never had a Tivo so I don't know. I will research it over the next few days. Thanks a ton. I will get...

Might switch back to Charter, a few Q's

I have had DirectTV for 3 years (after having Dish for 10+). I am tempted to go back to Charter which is my local cable company because I am already paying them $60+ a month for internet, and my DirectTV is almost $200 a month. I did have Charter in between Dish and DirectTV (left Dish because...

    Genie recording conflict question

I have a Genie receiver with one remote location unit. Tonight I had a program set to record at 9PM tonight. No big deal, but it was the only thing being recorded tonight. So, I was watching a baseball game on the primary receiver, and I got a message telling me the receiver had to switch to...

Cable Modem (Cisco DPC3010) LED Question

I have a Cisco DPC3010 cable modem I purchased from Charter (my cable provider) along with the internet service. (I bought it because I did not want to pay the monthly rental fee) I used to see the following on the 5 LEDS: Power: GREEN DS: AMBER US: GREEN ONLINE: AMBER LINK: GREEN...

New DirecTV Install - Locals breaking up

Now that you mention it, he did say he was only installing 3 LNBs, but that's all I would need, since I could not "see" the older sats. DirecTV sent the guy, so I guess it was a crap shoot who I got. When he installed the system, I told him I had a hub right where the Genie was going, but he...

New DirecTV Install - Locals breaking up

DirecTV did it. Let me go look at the name of the company that did it. We called DTV and they sent this guy out. TOTAL MEDIA INSTALLATIONS, East Hartford He seemed to be a good installer. I did, however, have to raise holy hell to get a hard wired Cinema Kit! :)

New DirecTV Install - Locals breaking up

Yes. Just the CBS station, but it's been consistant, at times. It's the only station I've seen the issue with, and like I said, it doesn't happen all of the time, mostly around 11pm, but it did it today at the start of the NCAA game. It was really bad

New DirecTV Install - Locals breaking up

Thanks for confirmation on my signal strength Jimbo (and Chip). No, I don't have OTA, but I kept my basic cable (SD), so I switched to that for the first half.

New DirecTV Install - Locals breaking up

Chip, It's strange, but it's working now. I was trying to watch the NCAA game, and the picture was AFU. I've seen it like this late at night on Channel 3 (Letterman), but CH 3 has been fine most of the time since we got the DTV. What was wierd was that it seemed the commercials were fine, but...

OK. Thanks for your input Chip. I was worried about those low numbers on a few of them, but I guess those are not my issue. Thanks again

New DirecTV Install - Locals breaking up

Hi Chip, HD Channels. The installer told me I would be unable to get the SD channels at my location. How can I tell what sat I'm on for CH 3? Thanks

New DirecTV Install - Locals breaking up

I'm having an issue with the local stations on my new DirecTV installation. I would guess that the locals are on the lowest satellite, and the dish can't see them well. I was very familiar with Dish installs when I had it, but have gotten out of the satellite loop, and really don't know much...

Remote problem with Genie RVU-C31 Client Receiver

I have a new DirectTV installation (about 2 weeks old) and have an issue with the RVU-C31 Client Receiver. It seems to get into a remote repeat mode, where I press, for example, Down (once), and it keeps going down in the guide. Also, if I try and get to say Channel 213, it tries to go to...

    Genie and an RF Remote

If you configure the Genie to use an RF remote, does that deactivate the IR sensor? In other words, if you set up the Genie itself for RF, does that mean you can no longer use an IR remote on the unit? Thanks

    Q re: Genie record resolution

If I set the Genie to display a lower video resolution on its associated display, will it record in low rez, or will it still record in 1080i/720p or whatever the source is? Thanks in advance
