    Wall Mount HD Receiver

Wait until you get the new software release rolling out now (0x368), then try RF again. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Very snappy, and I run all RF. Maybe then you can hide it and not worry about it. EKG

    SWM Question

If you are only connecting to one HD-DVR, you don't need the SWS-2. Only the cable from the dish straight in the back. Only if you add another set top box (IRD) do you need the splitter. EKG

Transponder maps, 99s, channel breakups and confused

SD's were on 72, but HD's have moved to the 99 slot. Also, FWA is slated to go to only on the 99 on 11/4/09. The list on "the other site" updated earlier this week shows all the HD's (aka MPEG-4's) on 99 and the MPEG-2's on 72. EKG

Transponder maps, 99s, channel breakups and confused

I'm in the Ft Wayne LiL area. I experience periodic (randomly, but for a period of time) breakups of my locals and the associated SFSS message on those locals. According to the excellent list over on the post DIRECTV Transponder Map: Data of 10/13/09 - DBSTalk.Com, my locals are on 99W TP...

    1080/p PPV Channel 125

Anyone know what the bandwidth hit is for 1080p vs. 1080i? Thought about buying and recording both this weekend, then watching them to see if you can tell the difference. Also, if I can slurp it over MRV (CE rocks), I can measure bandwidth. Thoughts? EKG

How to manually add channel to AM21?

And for bonus points, if the receiver is suspended or the account is suspended, you can't tune the channels either. I can see not recording them, but not tuning them either ???

A weird question about line of sight

Give or take. Here's the math. You have a 20 degree window (119-99). Lay a right triangle out starting at the dish center. Two of these right triangles together make the full window you're looking out of of. Here's the ascii art. +xxxx y y y y y y y y = 50 ft. x * 2 is what you're...

Adding a Receiver - Professional Installation / Upgrading SWM?

Non-swm lnb, power passing splitters feeding to SWM switches, each supporting 8 tuners (DVR's count as two tuners if you want to use them both). In theory, this should support about any number of tuners, provided you have the $$$ if you want a SWM single cable solution to each set top box. I...

Can I tweak them any better than this?

Dialing in the dish after doing a SWM upgrade in the house. My locals (45891) are on 103s TPN 2. Is it worth monkeying with tilt to try and bump the 99c numbers up a little. Channels seem nice and stable. I'm afraid of doing more damage than good. My presumption is the tilt would have to...

Taking the SWM plunge and a question

Finally finished the re-wire and SWM rocks. Have splitters feeding the old multi + the SWM. Flash cut 4 DVR's tonight to SWM and works like a champ! It may be giddy excitement, but it SEEMS like the satellite data loads a lot quicker on the SWM side than MS. Might just be me, might really...

Taking the SWM plunge and a question

Gear came today, and the DTV SWS-8 splitter came with terminators (watertight to boot!). Now to find the time to install.

Taking the SWM plunge and a question

Retrofitting my existing install to SWM so we can use both tuners on some runs that are single wire runs. Ordered everything from SolidSignal and waiting for it to come in. My question is, does the SWS-8 splitter come with the required terminators for unused ports, or do I need to order...

    New Construction Wiring Questions

I'm assuming you mean to say your Internet will be DSL based. If you want them all networked, you'll bring one DSL line to the house, connected to a DSL modem/router, which will then connect to the Ethernet lines to the DVR's. You won't need the "phone" side at the DVR's because a) if...

    Multi SWM design questions

I'm looking to do a self install of SWM technology, mainly to move towards each of the kids having their own DVR. With MRV, the whole idea of them recording their own stuff and then watching any-to-any is pretty appealing. In thinking thru the whole SWM thing, there is a potential for 6-7...

    Software Update 6.2

I guess my question is this: If I leave the stock drive in place and ADD a 400GB drive as the second drive, will the stock 6.2 "just recognize it" (i.e. all the space, not just 137GB of it) If anyone has done that, let me know (or anything > 137GB as the second drive on to a SD-DVR80 with...
