Oracle wins key appeal in copyright suit against Google and Android OS

If Oracle wins this suit it will have repercussions throughout the industry as APIs have long been the method for building complex application environments. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

Verizon's Samsung Galaxy S5 users run into problems with the camera

These are generally made in production runs. So if they got some runs of bad cameras, which is the reason to replace the hardware rather than patching, it could well be confined to a specific carrier's production run of phones. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

Verizon's Samsung Galaxy S5 users run into problems with the camera

And they are replacing them at no cost to the user. Much better than antennagate from a few years back... Or in short, Samsung's response wasn't "You're holding it wrong." Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

Bluetooth headset with superb noise reduction

Scott: Thanks for the link.. It's a bit too bulky for my needs... Try sticking your head into a server rack wearing that :)

Bluetooth headset with superb noise reduction

From time to time, I'm in data centers with a need to use my phone inside that very noisy environment. Does anyone have a bluetooth headset recommendation that works well in an environment with a lot of white noise?

Verizon triples LTE network capacity in some major cities

They needed to. I was in Manhattan in September and LTE performance was worse than 3G was on Sprint.

Phonebloks - the future of phones and computers?

Most of the phone interior is battery. The real question for me is can the battery be large enough to give all day run time with medium to heavy usage Will the cost be too dear as well? TBD. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

The concept is excellent. How it goes from concept to product remains to be seen.

Sony wants to ship 65 million Xperia units next year

That is an aggressive but reachable goal. I'd like to see more carrier support in the US (I think only on T-Mobile ATM). I've read very good things about the XPeria handsets, but have no personal experience.

    The collapse of Blackberry

Blackberry is going to need cash on hand if they have any hopes of getting through this. If they don't have a few years of operating costs on hand I don't see them with any chance of survival.

Samsung executive says model with curved screen will have October release date

[sarcasm on] In related news, Apple has attempted to get the ITC to block importation of the devices as the patent is owned by Samsung. It is clearly an unfair trade practice to patent, manufacture and ship product completely in house. When asked, Apple CEO Tim Cook replied "I'm sure someone...

Preliminary agreement is not a done deal. That said, I fear that this will just become a patent troll situation.

Google knows every Wi-Fi password entered from an Android device

Seems pretty obvious that Google has to store the password before they can restore it... Well sort of. There are ways of storing these values so that Google can store it without knowing the value. You'd use the Google password + a random salt to encrypt the WiFi password. I would hope they...

    Resolution race mania...

It's all dependent on viewing distance. Retina is a marketing term. It also isn't one particular resolution or pixel density but rather a function of viewing distance vs. dpi. A large enough screen, at distance could have a low DPI but still be considered "retina". Curiously enough, the higher...

AT&T Moto X will run you $575 without a contract, $629 for the 32 GB version

I wonder if Google is selling the Nexus phones with essentially zero margin for themselves? That would explain the pricing disparity.

ASUS could enter the U.S. smartphone market in 2014

I love the PadFone concept, where you plug the phone into the tablet to drive the display. Very cool and (to me) very forward thinking.
