Strange that there are 2 games on the NFL network. Somehow, I feel like there has to be a conflict of interest there...

Also, if you don't get the NFL network, I wonder if there will be a regional alternative for local fans (like the Thursday NFL games) or if those folks will be screwed.

I can't believe Notre Dame gets a bowl.

The Hawaii Bowl had little choice. Once Arizona State lost to Arizona the Pac-10 didn't have a bowl eligible team to fill the slot. The only other team that could fill the slot was W. Michigan....and between them and the Irish it was a no-brainer.

Here are my thoughts and predictions for each bowl:

EagleBank Bowl
Wake Forest vs. Navy
Washington, D.C. RFK Stadium Dec. 20, 11 a.m. ESPN
I'm going to be out of town for this one. Thank goodness. However, if I had to choose- Navy. Wake is too inconsistent.

New Mexico
Colorado State vs. Fresno State
Albuquerque University Stadium Dec. 20, 2:30 p.m. ESPN
Fresno State is a good team- almost beat Wisky and played that thriller with Fresno State. They will rebound nicely from that thumping in Boise.

magicJack St. Petersburg
Memphis vs. South Florida
St. Petersburg. Fla. Tropicana Field Dec. 20, 4:30 p.m. ESPN2
Memphis has a football team?

Pioneer Las Vegas
BYU vs. Arizona
Las Vegas Sam Boyd Stadium Dec. 20, 8 p.m. ESPN
Remember what I said about USC always playing in Pasadena? I think BYU feels the same way about playing in Vegas. Still, they have better talent on offense.

R+L Carriers New Orleans
Southern Miss vs. Troy
New Orleans Superdome Dec. 21, 8:15 p.m. ESPN
LSU learned first-hand about Troy's talent (Don't forget- they beat Oklahoma State last year).

San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia
Boise State vs. TCU
San Diego Qualcomm Stadium Dec. 23, 8 p.m. ESPN
TCU has a MANLY defense- they are more battle-tested than the overrated Trojan D!

Sheraton Hawaii
Hawaii vs. Notre Dame
Honolulu Aloha Stadium Dec. 24, 8 p.m. ESPN
I think the Irish CAN win. Hawaii is not exactly the team they were last year. For once, Notre Dame is not facing a team 10 times better.

Motor City
Florida Atlantic vs. Central Michigan
Detroit Ford Field Dec. 26, 8 p.m. ESPN
Dan LeFevour put on a show last year, albeit in a loss. This time, he'll get a win.

Meineke Car Care
West Virginia vs. North Carolina
Charlotte, N.C. Bank of America Stadium Dec. 27, 1 p.m. ESPN
Sorry, anders, but I don't trust UNC's offense, especially with their quarterback carousel.

Champs Sports
Wisconsin vs. Florida State
Orlando, Fla. Florida Citrus Bowl Dec. 27, 4:30 p.m. ESPN
Wisconsin's running backs are better than any of Florida State's offensive players.

Emerald
Miami (Fla.) vs. California
San Francisco AT&T Park Dec. 27, 8 p.m. ESPN
Sorry salsa, but Miami has not faced any good offensive players since the Florida game. Jahvid Best is a damn good running back!

Independence
Northern Illinois vs. Louisiana Tech
Shreveport, La. Independence Stadium Dec. 28, 8:15 p.m. ESPN
I'll take LaTech, but only because I flipped a coin.

Papajohns.com
NC State vs. Rutgers
Birmingham, Ala. Legion Field Dec. 29, 3 p.m. ESPN
Mike Teel and Rutgers are on a roll- six wins, and he has been lighting up the scoreboard!

Valero Alamo
Missouri vs. Northwestern
San Antonio Alamodome Dec. 29, 8 p.m. ESPN
Mizzou may not have great D, but Northwestern does not have the playmakers to exploit that defense like Texas, Oklahoma, or Oklahoma State did.

Roady's Humanitarian
Maryland vs. Nevada
Boise, Idaho Bronco Stadium Dec. 30, 4:30 p.m. ESPN
Nevada couldn't win on the blue turf to save their lives.

Texas
Rice vs. Western Michigan
Houston Reliant Stadium Dec. 30, 8 p.m. NFL Network
Rice can light it up. Western Michigan got lit up by Ball State. See where I am going with this?

Pacific Life Holiday
Oklahoma State vs. Oregon
San Diego Qualcomm Stadium Dec. 30, 8 p.m. ESPN
Over/under: 110 points?

Bell Helicopter Armed Forces
Houston vs. Air Force
Fort Worth, Texas Amon G. Carter Stadium Dec. 31, Noon ESPN
Houston is too explosive. Air Force needs to get with the times. Their option is not as good as Georgia Tech's.

Brut Sun
Oregon State vs. Pittsburgh
El Paso, Texas Sun Bowl Dec. 31, 2 p.m. CBS
I have more faith in the Beavers' passing game than Pitt's. As for the star running backs- I'll set the over/under for combined rushing yards at 300.

Gaylord Hotels Music City
Boston College vs. Vanderbilt
Nashville, Tenn. LP Field Dec. 31, 3:30 p.m. ESPN
First to 12 points wins!:D

Insight
Kansas vs. Minnesota
Tempe, Ariz. Sun Devil Stadium Dec. 31, 5:30 p.m. NFL Network
KU has a better offense.

Chick-fil-A
LSU vs. Georgia Tech
Atlanta Georgia Dome Dec. 31, 7:30 p.m. ESPN
McCoy, no offense, but LSU's offense is offensive, and not in a good way- their quarterback play is terrible! You better hope Charles Scott has the game of his life!

Outback
South Carolina vs. Iowa
Tampa, Fla. Raymond James Stadium Jan. 1, 2009, 11 a.m. ESPN
Iowa has Shonn Greene and beat Penn State. South Carolina has no decent offensive players or signature wins.

Capital One
Georgia vs. Michigan State
Orlando, Fla. Florida Citrus Bowl Jan. 1, 2009, 1 p.m. ABC
I know that Moreno and Stafford are great players, but look at Georgia's shoddy defense. After Georgia Tech stampeded all over them, I think Ringer will run wild.

Konica Minolta Gator
Clemson vs. Nebraska
Jacksonville, Fla. Jacksonville Municipal Stadium Jan. 1, 2009, 1 p.m. CBS
Clemson's QB is not as good as Nebraska's.

Rose Bowl Game Presented by Citi
Penn State vs. USC
Pasadena, Calif. Rose Bowl Jan. 1, 2009, 4:30 p.m. ABC
Penn State is happy to be here, while USC doesn't seem to want to be here. This reminds me of when Cal did not want to be at the 2004 Holiday Bowl against Texas Tech. I think USC will pay the ultimate price for disrespecting the Granddaddy!

FedEx Orange
Cincinnati vs. Virginia Tech
Miami Dolphin Stadium Jan. 1, 2009, 8:30 p.m. FOX
ACC teams are 1-9 in BCS games.

AT&T Cotton
Ole Miss vs. Texas Tech
Dallas Cotton Bowl Jan. 2, 2009, 2 p.m. FOX
Ole Miss does not have the horses to keep up with Tech.

AutoZone Liberty
Kentucky vs. East Carolina
Memphis, Tenn. Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium Jan. 2, 2009, 5 p.m. ESPN
Sorry, ramy, but UK is absolutely pitiful on offense.

Allstate Sugar
Utah vs. Alabama
New Orleans Superdome Jan. 2, 2009, 8 p.m. FOX
This won't be as ugly as last year's Sugar Bowl- Utah has defense and is battle-tested. Still, I think Bama wins.

International
Buffalo vs. Connecticut
Toronto Rogers Centre Jan. 3, 2009, Noon ESPN2
Buffalo was handed a MAC title thanks to some awful officiating- Donald Brown exposes Buffalo as being nothing but paper champions!

Tostitos Fiesta
Ohio State vs. Texas
Glendale, Ariz. University of Phoenix Stadium Jan. 5, 2009, 8 p.m. FOX
I think Texas is going to learn the hard way what happens when you politic to get in a bigger game, get left out, and not show up for the game.

GMAC
Tulsa vs. Ball State
Mobile, Ala. Ladd-Peebles Stadium Jan. 6, 2009, 8 p.m. ESPN
Over/Under- 120 points?

FedEx BCS National Championship Game
Florida vs. Oklahoma
Miami Dolphin Stadium Jan. 8, 2009, 8 p.m. FOX
Yes, Oklahoma has not faced a good defense, but Florida has faced nothing but popgun offenses. Florida is going to realize that playing Oklahoma is not the same as playing LSU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, or Kentucky.

or Ohio St. ;)

Bell Helicopter Armed Forces
Houston vs. Air Force
Fort Worth, Texas Amon G. Carter Stadium Dec. 31, Noon ESPN
Houston is too explosive. Air Force needs to get with the times. Their option is not as good as Georgia Tech's.
...[/B]
Air Force is good, they just need more speed (i.e. Black people).

Good call Sabres. Texas hasn't played a team with any sort of defense comparable to the Buckeyes. I really think we'll surprise those giddy Longhorns. I just pray that Matthew McConaughey isn't on the sidelines jumping around like a prepubescent girl.

EagleBank Bowl
Wake Forest vs. Navy
Washington, D.C. RFK Stadium Dec. 20, 11 a.m. ESPN
I'm going to be out of town for this one. Thank goodness. However, if I had to choose- Navy. Wake is too inconsistent.

This one is a rematch. Navy beat Wake earlier this year, but only after Wake turned it over 5 times. This one should be better, but Navy wins again close.

Meineke Car Care
West Virginia vs. North Carolina
Charlotte, N.C. Bank of America Stadium Dec. 27, 1 p.m. ESPN
Sorry, anders, but I don't trust UNC's offense, especially with their quarterback carousel.

That shouldn't be a problem now. Give Butch a couple of weeks to prepare and we should be fine. Besides, WV was held under 20 points in their last 2 games. I'm not afraid. Hopefully I'll be there to cheer the Heels on to victory.

Champs Sports
Wisconsin vs. Florida State
Orlando, Fla. Florida Citrus Bowl Dec. 27, 4:30 p.m. ESPN
Wisconsin's running backs are better than any of Florida State's offensive players.

Wisconsin stinks. They barely beat Cal Poly. FSU will eat them alive.

Konica Minolta Gator
Clemson vs. Nebraska
Jacksonville, Fla. Jacksonville Municipal Stadium Jan. 1, 2009, 1 p.m. CBS
Clemson's QB is not as good as Nebraska's.

Clemson played well down the stretch. Dabo Sweeney won the job as Clemson's HC. I think they will be fired up. Nebraska fans will regret making this trip.

USC will pitch a shutout!

FedEx Orange
Cincinnati vs. Virginia Tech
Miami Dolphin Stadium Jan. 1, 2009, 8:30 p.m. FOX
ACC teams are 1-9 in BCS games.

It might go to 1-10. VT is easily the worst team in the BCS. The only way they win is if the defense scores 3 TD's and they block a punt.

I think Ohio St is going to learn what happens when you play a team with better athletes.

I'm leaning towards Oklahoma in this one. The Gators had better hope they keep it close because Stoops will not let up.

That is true what was I thinking :up

I bet you had a huge sie of relief when you found out it was OSU vs Texas and not Alabama :eureka

As a fellow Buckeye fan, I was not "relieved" to play Texas instead of another SEC team. In fact, the way I look at it is, that if the Buckeyes beat Texas, it would be a huge step in proving we can win in big games. (Remember that's the knock on us these last two years, not that we can't win against the SEC). Plus, Texas is considered by many to be the ones who debatably should be playing for the MNC. SEC team or not, a win over Texas would be huge for the Buckeyes.

Texas will pound OSU into the turf. This game won't be close. The only good thing about this matchup for OSU is that they won't be expected to win, so it won't be a disappointment when they lose.

The better matchup would have been Texas vs. Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. That would be a war I'd pay money to see.
