2008 Olympics: Do You Care?

This wouldn't be the first time the Olympics were held at a questionable site.

Remember the 1936 Olympics in Nazi Germany and the 1980 Olympics in Moscow?

What I remember most is what happened to both of those regimes just a few years later. Maybe history will repeat again, hopefully without much bloodshed.

I usually watch most of the primtime coverage for the Olympics. I am a big fan of track & field, swimming, and gymnastics.

I have been watching the Opening Ceremonies, which have been decent.

Its too bad I have to watch them live from Canada. I dont understand why NBC has to wait until tonight to show them

The CBC coverage does not have many commercials.

How do you get the CBC in CT? Didnt think the signal reached that far.

Nothing will beat the 1992 Barcelona archer! My favorite olympic flame lighting, ever! (and that even surpasses a trembling Ali lighting the flame in Atlanta in 1996).

So, after the first weekend at Beijing, what are your thoughts?

I'm in the process of redoing the kitchen, (refacing cabinets and such), so I had the TV in the family room on in the background all weekend and was flipping back and forth between the Olympics, PGA Championship and the Indians all weekend.

And I have to admit, these Olympics have got my interest. Swimming, woman's beach volley ball and basketball are my favorites.
